So I can confirm that Jesse Powell is out at North Side. Sucks for those kids 3 days before their first game. @TryNotToSuckWhat do you know about this???

I actually haven't heard of it until now. You're the first one that has mentioned something about this. I'm sort of like @ManOfMillions now. I've dropped North Side as my "affiliation" team, but still follow them closely and will likely had to a game or two. However, more options to attend other games as well.

However, this is what I can confirm. North Side has a new principal in Bryan Chandler. Yes, I'm sure you've heard of him as well. Principal Chandler is not necessarily a sports guy like the past principal, Jason Bridgeman. But Bridgeman never elevated the school as a whole in sports. Before the 2021 season, he had a brand new assistant coaching staff. He only retained one coach, which was former JCM coach, Cedric Hampton. He lost Ryan Scott (now OC at JCM) and Teddy Pettigrew (HC at Humboldt). His assistant coaching staff took major step back in 2022. This offseason, he apparently got rid of his freshman coaching staff because they apparently added things into "his offense." I don't know if the coaching staff has been filled. I do believe he also lost a coach to Bolivar, he is joining Hayden Williams' staff.

The players didn't mind him, but also didn't want to play for him. His practices are longer than what they need to be. Which is weird because he doesn't have a "difficult offense" or a high access amount of plays. Example: I doubt he has 30 plays in the playbook, while a normal offense may have around 75 plays. I would probably say his practices are momentous I guess. Which isn't fun for the players.

Yes, North Side has been trying to find a way to get rid of him for a while. That is true, and I thought it was going to happen over the offseason (which you can say that it is still the offseason). Last year was simple. If the Indians score under 21, they lose. Over 21, they win the game. And I think he finally got exposed for having a predictable offense.

I thought about this the other day. I don't know where the location of their first scrimmage was. However, they played Millington. If they played that scrimmage at Millington, then they would've had a five in a six week stretch of the following: a Scrimmage @ Millington, a scrimmage @ Lewis County (Hohenwald), Jamboree @ Henry County, Week 1 game @ Hardin County, Week 2 vs Covington, Week 3 @ Obion Central, and Week 4 @ Ripley.  Yes, the Indians are selective on scheduling, but that's a brutal stretch of a schedule. They also got shutout in the Jamboree against McCracken County. That's doesn't tell me everything, but it does tell me something. It just means that the typical "6 wins and maybe a playoff win, and done" seasons are over.

Coaches moving to new jobs is nothing new. The former coach at KIPP Academy left to take an assistant job at Millington. New KIPP Academy is Josh Northcutt, a McNairy Central grad who played for Memphis.

Teddy Pettigrew had two years at Milan. Then, Diffee had two years at Milan as well. South Gibson has a new coach. Gibson County has a new coach. Obion Central's coach is entering year two, same for Humboldt's, Teddy Pettigrew.

I want to say these following schools across West Tennessee has a coach for <3 years: Scotts Hill, Chester County, McNairy Central, Bolivar, North Side, USJ (I think), West Carroll, Bruceton, Gibson County, Westivew, Greenfield, Milan, Humboldt, Halls, Lake County, Middleton, Obion Central, and Brighton. We had over 100 new head coaches in High School football across Tennessee. That's a record. So, it's not new anymore.

USJ brought in one of their own alumni, Clayton Gant, to become their baseball coach prior to the 2020 season. He moved from Oklahoma, to Jackson. The 2020 season was cancelled due to Covid (may have only played 2-3 games, but still). He basically coached for two seasons at USJ. Two weeks ago, he was released as the baseball coach. It's a weird and interesting time in our area.

Not just chewing the fat, but I think something weird happened. I wish Northside the best. I hate it for the kids that are there, especially the seniors. I hope the interim coach can pull them together and they can have some success. The last time the kids will ever strap it up is coming soon....

interim coach was HC of JCM in 04-09 and they had good success

Haha the region is off to a bad start. I hope everyone has a a great and successful season. I don’t know if North Side will make the playoffs or not. Just surprised at the timing of the resignation. However, if they do make the playoffs, Cedric Hampton deserves every vote to be coach of the year in this region!

I wish Dyersburg didn’t leave the region…..
