Halls Wrestling is Stealing their District

Halls has wrestled no members of their district and due to Fulton having to cancel last Thursday because Knox county said only practice, Halls is trying to say the other teams could meet at ACHS and wrestle which isn’t even a region school. Clinton and Fulton believed it to be canceled and now Halls is using a kangaroo Court to try and steal the district 1 seed. Clinton has asked for a true second match at regions tonight since halls and them haven’t faced each other but halls would rather steal. Sad that this historic program would sink this low just to win

true 2nd for a 3 team district?  Or true 2nd for region- which assumes both teams lose to Gibbs? (which isn't really a safe assumption).

Halls is nowhere near as solid as they were 4 or 5 years ago, but I don't see them losing  in that district for awhile. Arguments on who would beat who aside, in years past District titles have been determined on coin flips, past years results, or numerous other criteria when matches get cancelled for school closures.

But how many times is it decided by one team making the final choice for the whole district, who happens to be the only team without a district match or win?  Halls simply said, "Knox wont let us compete tonight, but I found another gym to go to, if you don't show up its a forfeit? True second for region if both teams fall to Gibbs is what my buddy told me.

Has to be some fair way to decide.  Not just one team making all the rules as they go. especially when the rules end up giving them the 1 seed to go against carter in the first round and secure a trip to sectional just by claiming they are the 1.

The same situation has played out numerous times and handled varies ways.  Usually a coin flip to determine who's number 1 and who's the number 2 'seed', OR the two will wrestle each other to begin the evening (or sometimes both coaches are confident they'll win their first round match and will wrestle in the finals with both the Region and District championships.  There are also plenty of examples of teams not wrestling in the Region finals because they wrestled already,  Each district and region has the freedom to determine their own criteria.

Also, word to the wise, 'Halls Wrestling' - both the youth program and high school team, are ran by some of the most well respected coaches not just in the area, but across the entire state. So kind of peculiar coach to call out specifically for any wrong doing, or say he is trying to 'steal' a district title.  If you want a better explanation of what's going on, or the rational behind the decision of the seeding, I am sure Coach Sayne will talk to you personally.  Additionally, If both your teams lose to Gibbs, I am sure he will be happy to wrestle off for a 'true second'.  However the saying, "be careful what you wish for' may be applicable if that scenario plays out.

Word on the street is that Clinton was not “weight ready” for district. Has to be wrestled within a certain number assigned week per TSSAA. Also that Clinton left before they could argue they wanted a true second after region finals.  Coach Sayne is well respected. Bold to say that he would “steal” a district title that most would argue they would have anyways.

Halls and coach Sayne declined the option to wrestle in the true second. Principal, AD, and coach all said no to the true second and the difference in the loss to Gibbs by both teams was 4 points. Clinton tried everything to get a fair shake…wrestle before, wrestle after, wrestle a different day…flip a coin and even to no avail

The real word is that the match was hosted by Fulton who canceled and then sayne calls AC to find a neutral site for district but by that time both the Fulton and Clinton coaches told their teams it was canceled. Where ever you get your word ask them if Fulton wrestled too? Fulton canceled on districts, it was their host for this year

Also, word on the street is that Clinton didn’t want to cause a scene and ruin a big night for a lot of high school kids by putting a stain on the evening so they made a grown up decision to not cause an altercation
