Interesting.  Someone want to explain 113 to me?

I'm assuming you mean Gobel getting it over Ford.

The team is chosen before state duals. Their only meeting before state duals Ford forfeitted at the Admiral Inv finals.

Freshman Brody Gobbell from Father Ryan beat Owen Gobel 10-4 in the Finals of the Johnny Drennan Invitational and finished 2nd in the State in a tough match against a four time state champ and West Point commitment.

At 120, Calvin Eason from Father Ryan beat Jarvis Little 8-4 in the Finals of the Johnny Drennan Invitational and won a State Championship on one leg after not practicing for a month.

At 220, Gabe Fisher from MBA won his second state championship and just finished 5th at National Preps. Did he and Noah Todd wrestle at any point this season?

I'm pretty sure the team is voted on by the coaches. If you dont like who made it tell them, or make your own dream team.

Otherwise it really doesnt matter.

Kudos to all of the kids.

I respect every wrestler on that list (and any kid who chooses the sport) and anyone who spends time on rankings, because it makes for a fun conversation on this board and all of our communities.

I was just surprised a couple of kids didn’t make it based on head to head match ups and state tournament results.

Fisher was recognized as male wrestler of the year at the event.

I just assumed the Dream Team was to acknowledge the best wrestlers in each weight class from middle Tennessee, and not just to whomever.  Thanks, I stand corrected.

Again....

its voted on by the coaches. If you're not a fan of the list (or my guess is you or your son was left off) go complain to the coaches that voted.

Not complaining, just trying to understand the process.  If head to head is not considered and it's more a popularity vote, I'm fine with that.

    • It’s almost always at UTM, & each year we just take turns being the home team on the scoreboard. Lions like playing up there, sort of our North Campus field. Nice place to play. But with TSSAA changing days of the game, I guess we might have had to play in Dresden if the UTM Skyhawks were playing Saturday. But it all worked out. First time in awhile we weren’t the first game for the new season, for many years it was on a Thursday. There is always aTON of eager excitement & new-season nervousness.. this has the potential to be a really, really good game. You know both teams want to win big & make a statement to the rest of their opponents. The defending 2A champs saying Oh yes we are here and fully intent to stay champs.. And Dresden taking down the Top Dog of 2A , and do it handily (like they impressively handled 6A McCracken for two quarters), that kind of victory would definitely send out a message that the Lions are legit & have big plans for themselves as well. I hope to get there early so I can have a good seat. Gonna bring my blue camping chair and sit at corner of endzone, with my bigcowbell, horn, and loud voice of encouragement. LET’s GOOOO LIONS! .. I wonder if we will wear our all black uniform again. Incl’d. Black helmets. Wish we could put in black sun visors on face-guards. THAT would look awesome!
    • He's back on the roster. He may have some work to do to be back in top form and at the top of the rotation. I don't know all the details so I won't speculate, but it's safe to say it wasn't an ideal offseason for him.
    • UC will not hold LC to 7 points. They may win but LC will put up points. LC also got a preview of the veer Friday night in Murray from the master of the veer Coach Bowling. They should definitely help the Falcons get ready for the tornadoes.
