I talk about you guys on here but at the end of the day it’s all love. Prayers for the Pearl Cohn Community and the family.

MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) — A community is mourning the loss of a Pearl Cohn High School football player, who tragically died in a car crash.

Metro police say 18-year-old Taurus Dewayne Turrentine Jr. was a passenger when the crash happened Tuesday night on Due West Avenue in Madison.

According to police, the driver had swerved off the road and hit a tree. She told police she saw headlights in front of her and thought another car was headed into her lane.

Turrentine was a member of the Pearl Cohn High School football team. Metro Nashville Public Schools released this statement from Coach Tony Brunetti:

“Taurus Turrentine was a 6 Foot, 285 pound teddy bear who was simultaneously one of the strongest kids on the Pearl-Cohn Firebirds football team. Taurus was as an all-district defensive tackle, who played four years at Pearl-Cohn and started the last three years. Taurus chose Pearl-Cohn because he knew he could go to college with the support of the coaches and teachers, and this year he received a full ride to Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky. His teachers, coaches, and classmates described him as generous and kind who brought the light to the classroom. Our hearts are with his family as we join them in mourning the loss of this wonderful and talented young man.”

    • The issue here is not reporting an incident from what I have heard so it’s not shocking DCS is involved to some degree. Many question whether the alleged incident actually took place.
    • Yeah, you might be right. We will see what happens. Should be interesting.
    • None taken ever. I just gotta believe that AC started the fire on this. Small towns talk clinton is a small town. They may have not been the official one to put ink to paper but I am sure they are the ones moving the pieces here.
    • No offense intended,  but I will take the word of an actual administrator in that system on that question.
    • My guess is, this has absolutely nothing to do with athletics. I could be completely wrong. Just going to let this play out over the next few days/weeks before throwing accusations around. Funny how when OR benefits from “transfers” it is because of the incredible school system and never for athletics because most people can’t afford the “tuition”! Going to be interesting to say the least.    And if AC is turning anybody in, shame on them. They have benefited and work the system more than most over the years.
