Softball needs a pitch limit or innings limit

The game at Eagleville last night is exactly the reason softball should have a pitch limit or innings limit like baseball.  Eagleville has a very strong left handed freshman pitcher and by the 3rd inning she was spent!  She was making a terrible face on every pitch and obviously in serious pain. Working and twisting her arm after every pitch.  The catcher even stopped to come talk once.  Their a**hole coach never once came out to talk to her or check on her  and I'll say the same for her a**hole parents.   That is a shame they treat her like that.  There is absolutely no way in this world she will make it to her senior year without surgery.  If she makes it at all.  Shame on you coaches.  TSSAA needs to do something to save the poor girl from coaches like that!

100% agree. I know some other pitchers that are going to be hanging on by a thread when the district tournament starts!

. How many future D1 athletes have you coached. That kid has the best trainers and doctors looking after that arm money can buy. She was hit by a line drive is the only pain she was feeling. Also why don’t you come to to there next game and say it to her dads face instead of posting it online. If it would have been some kid throwing meatballs down the middle you wouldn’t have said a word.

Still doesn’t mean she wouldn’t get hurt because of the best she has. You can get over worked as a athlete.

I think she’s in good hands.

No one is say she isn’t but you are acting like she can’t get hurt by being overworked or used. Her stuff on Twitter is pretty cool. The young lady works out hard and really practices hard at ball. I show my daughter her Twitter clips.

Do not need a pitch count for softball. They can pitch every day without hurting arm. More likely to be mentally fatigued.

I am not really for a pitch count, but I do fear that this logic is flawed to some degree. The "natural motion" argument, although correct, doesn't account for "unnatural force" placed on the shoulder, elbow, etc. Coaches should pay more attention to pitch counts for kids and not overuse them. However, time off is also something that many softball pitchers do not get. In a calendar year a pitcher will go from high school (in Tennessee) preseason/practices/games to summer travel ball to fall travel ball all while still taking "lessons". Therein lies the problem.
