Toppper fans, don't be offended by this statement because I am just stating something I have observed year to year:        For the level of talent that is generally on the field at SH the Toppers always underachieve.    I don't know exactly, it's almost like they just can't focus all that talent together.   Not sure if everybody is just doing their own thing, not listening to the coaches, etc.        If you guys disagree or maybe I am not seeing something right feel free to chime in.

I am not convinced that SH plays a tough enough regular season schedule.  Team speed kills and SH has not ever shown that they have enough team speed to win a state championship.

You could be right, it just seems to me that if the Toppers could ever play together as one cohesive unit they would be a force to be reckoned with.

I understand that it would be a long trip but SH should really schedule one of the top teams from Middle Tennessee early every season.  It would show not only how good of a team SH has but it would also show what they need to improve on to compete for a state title.

They don't have to go to Middle Tennessee for that. There's Maryville and Alcoa in East Tn. or even Elizabethton and Greeneville right in their own backyard. Other than the past couple of years with Oakland you can't do much better than those four teams I mentioned.

Their non-conference is Elizabethton, Powell, Maryville, and Daniel Boone. Not too shabby of a schedule.

While they are private schools you have multiple ones in the Nashville area that are strong and always searching for games.

I 100% agree. The speed argument shouldn't be an issue because they have successful track and field and basketball programs. I have always found them to be soft. With the talent there, they should be a powerhouse. SH and DB always disappoint.

I think SH underachieves way more that DB.   But in the end neither of them will ever get past Maryville in round 3 so maybe it's a moot point.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
