Hardin County Vacancy

Hardin County head coach Ron Burnham just announced to his team that he has retired.  Puts the school and program in a tough spot with a late notification.  Leaves with three straight district titles, three straight trips to sub-state and a tournament appearance with an upset of #1 Bearden in the 2021 state tournament.

a little late for sure. Is there an assistant in house that has been loyal and waiting to take over. Lots of times when these openings pop this time of year the assistant has been groomed to take it.

Not really an assistant in waiting.  Coach Rich has been there several years and the other assistant for just one.  They lost a good coach in Eddie Walker, but he is an assistant on the boys team at Page HS.  Not much coaching experience to take over from within.  HC has great facilities and the community really backs both the Tigers and Lady Tigers, a shame that they may have to settle just to fill the spot which usually leads to a declining program.

You never know about it this time of year. the month of May seems to hold surprises every year when it comes to schools making changes.

The name Brian Reed is coming up a lot. Currently one of the middle school coaches at the private school in Savannah. He coached both south teams in the WTN Middle School All Star games and from what I’ve heard is a very solid coach.

The new girls coach at Bolivar (Rob Parson) is from Hardin County and had a successful year there, took them from a 5-16 record to a 17-12 record, lost by 3 points to Scotts Hill in the region semis, Scotts Hill ended up going to the state tournament. Would he leave to go back to Savannah?

From my understanding, Coach Reed applied for the boys opening and didn't get it.  There has been some tension between SCA (Where Reed is the girls and boys coach) and the HC middle school athletics for years and not sure if that will factor in to the decision.  Rob Parsons left HC as an assistant several years ago and went to Dyer County (a hated district rival at the time) to be an assistant.  I doubt he would be welcomed back with open arms after that move.  Coach Parsons did do a decent job at Bolivar turning that program around this past year.  I have also heard that the other HC boys assistant, Coach Kirk, is interested in the position but he only has two years exp as an assistant on the boys side I think.  I would expect a decision will have to be made quickly with school being out in two weeks.

As an assistant at Houston, I saw the passion that Hardin County fans had, when we took a lesser talented team to a substate game there a few years ago. They have a true small town feel, with a big-time successful athletic program. I would love to be a coach at a school like that. Best of luck to them finding someone to continue their success. They have my respect.

I don’t see Rudesill leaving JCM. I would say if they are going for experience that theyd go with Reed or Forsythe, Parsons could be an option especially with what he’s done with the middle school players already with Bolivars feeder schools and getting those girls playing spring ball together. He has shown that he grinds and works hard, but I very easily could see them hiring from within like the boys position. It will definitely be an interesting hire and one that many people will have their eye on. HC has a good group of incoming freshmen and another good class behind them.

    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. Word is Witten got caught trying to work him out on campus and some 7 on 7 while playing athletics for Sullivan East. Word got around pretty quick and Someone turned them into TSSAA.
    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
