Anyone ever heard of a pitch count violation for a JV player causing a forfeit for a district championship?? Last night it happened!

Houston defeated Collierville on the field last night, 5-2. now the game is under protest over JV pitch count.

A JV pitch count?  How would/did that affect a varsity game?

6. The pitch count will apply to any player who pitches and is cumulative each day. JV pitch count and high school varsity pitch count are linked together. Example: a pitcher who pitches 45 Varsity pitches on Monday is not permitted to pitch JV on Tuesday.

Coach mistake.

Why are you still playing JV games the week of the district tournament?

Heck if you've got enough kids in the program to do that, that's awesome. Give the young kids as many games as you can.

The better question, IMO, is why you'd be playing a kid you think you might LEGITIMATELY need for districts in a JV game that week.

Exactly. It amazes me how every year in any sport a Head Coach doesnt know the rules.Whether lots tranfer, eligibility or even a JV/Varsity pitch count and its costs the whole team advancement. Its all in black and white!Just take some time and read the rules.

And then the the folks down in Hermitage let the kid from Powell pitch, even though there is irrefutable evidence that shows he wasn't eligible to pitch. Unbelievable.

Bearden’s coach should have never signed the paper saying that the pitch count was 105. That’s what tssaa is always going to go by. I don’t agree with pitching him either but it clearly states in the rules and on that form that it is what is going to be the official pitch count.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
