I am willing to be that Donovan's book will be better.

Well, Jasper will be ranked number 1 in the preseason 2a pole and final pole. Lastly, Roy will tell you that Murph's pole is bigger than Donovan's pole.

Murphy Fair did a lot of great things for high school football across the state of TN for such a long period of time.  Donovan Stewart does an amazing job covering high school football as well.  Instead of criticizing and trying to throw shade at Murphy Fair for what he knew/didn’t know perhaps you should be appreciative of the good things he did to promote high school football and young people across the state for so many years.

Happy Retirement Murphy!  Hope to catch you at a game sometime.

Not to mention he was one of the nicest men you could ever run into. People that criticize him are probably miserable. The kind of people you can not make happy regardless of what you try to do. If you cured cancer they would complain that it took you too long.... Murphy worked really hard and was treasure to high school football in this state. I wish him a happy retirement.

It’s been several years since I’ve seen one of these but I’ll give you all a shot to fill out a survey for as many schools as you can.  It actually takes a while for a coach to fill one of these surveys out and a lot of times coaches won’t fill it out until the end of May/Spring Drills because of players who may choose to transfer to new schools or May elect not to play football in the fall.

I am sure that I’ve forgotten several other things that he requested and added on the surveys as he received them from coaches around the state.

Several coaches were great in turning in their surveys and having their schools included in the magazine.  Other coaches it was probably like pulling teeth to get those guys to return a survey every year.  Sometimes it was impossible for schools to be included because they didn’t have a coach hired at the time of the survey deadline.

Bottom line is, Murphy took the leap. People can criticize the content all they like, there was a statewide HS football magazine because Murphy put it together and for no other reason than that. Now that it has been established that it will sell, and that people actually enjoy reading about teams,  traditions, players, and coaches other than local, there'll probably always be one and maybe others, but they're there because Murphy laid the groundwork. Roy said he had the nicest pole in Tennessee as well.
