I don’t know if they’ll compete for all the marbles the first year or two but I’m betting they’ll be the new kid chasing y’all for the region. After a year or two who knows. They’d probably be my favorite in our region. We’re not gonna be world beaters and we’re in a weak region to boot. 2A isn’t gonna have many truly good teams again this year I’m afraid. There are 2 maybe 3 worth watching out for but that’s about it.

Hope you fellers improve but I'd say York will be the front runner. As far as Eagleton, who knows. They may come outta the gate a powerhouse or it may take um a year or 2, either way I'd say they will have it going on  pretty quick. With Fayetteville and Smith County in the East, going to make it tough on all of us to get out of the East. I do think we'll be improved this season, bigger in the line and more experienced in the skill positions.

Having great facilities will help Eagleton far as Blount County goes. The biggest key besides the coach is were will this QB go since Shad left for Catholic. If he goes somewhere else then Eagleton will have a harder time in my opinion. The young man comes from a family of good athletes. Personally Shad did nothing for the first two brothers and I wish the father could see that. Their dad is a good guy and I used to know him pretty well a long time ago but he's like anyone else that wants their kid to succeed. Following Shad is a path of destruction. The hat had some pretty good names in it with coaches that have been to the major leagues and won it all but I'm sure most wouldn't have stayed long may be why they stayed in house. The young man they hired has a great reputation and well liked so I'm fine with it.

I’d tend to agree on YAI in our region. We’re likely bottom half of the pack this year in our region but who knows really. If y’all are better then you’ll compete in the East.

Lots of great words about this young coach but the one thing I have not heard is can he coach. The other thing is  will he be able to hire good assistants. With Eagleton hiring all these William Blount Coaches it is surprising that WBHS was not better under these coaches.

I guess you have to do what the head man wants you to which you know who that was at William Blount. I was told in the beginning that the best coaches from WB went out to Eagleton in the beginning. You would have thought last year when the other coach took the job as an assistant at Maryville that this young man would have been moved up into that position as to it went out and brought shad right back. He did spend a year at Maryville during a state championship year which is a positive note. It seems that a lot of people like him so I'm okay with it I'm okay. If the barbershop gave him full approval then he must be okay

We SHOULD be better, always depend on a lot of things,3 or 4 months from now ,you could have 3 or four transfers and again you could lose several. Looks pretty good today, lol.

Will their new coach be  better than Shad?

The only thing I have a draw back on is so much time at William Blount which is the kiss of death for anyone in the coaching business. Far as Shad goes I can't understand why the long drawed out process only to hire inside plus why didn't they do that last summer when it opened up instead of sticking their hand back into the snakes den only to get it bit again. They passed up some good coaches that applied but the new hire is very well liked by many and he does have a lot of good tools at his side to be good so we'll see.

Everybody back pretty much. They will be a tough out

I agree they’ll be tough, just think they were to far from being a championship team last year to get there this year. I’m guessing it’s Hampton as the front runner in quad 1 but anything is possible.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
