Been around the game for decades now, for every 1-2 coaches pulling that nonsense, there are dozens of parents.  Witnessed a Portland parent do it just a few weeks back.

Extreme  scenario. None of my points endorsed such stupidity. You ignored my points and lost your mind as per yuge.

Interesting twist to the post. It's a straw man that no one mentioned. My youngest kid is 34. He did play at a small college in Maryland.

I think in general, you are projecting, and if you need to scream the above at yourself for it to sink in, knock yourself out.

College ball from a small high school isn't that unusual. There are plenty of small colleges around. Pro ball is less than a 1 in a million shot, just to add facts to your sort of psychotic self-own above.

You take it literally about yourself.  I mean of the thousands of parents, under 1% of their kids play on the next level.  You are the one who needs to stop projecting, and maybe learn reading comprehension.

Wrong.

Fans are always the scapegoat. It's a garbage take. Team is terrible? Fans aren't doing something right. Coach is incompetent? Fans are too mean, and need to be more supportive.

All fans do is 1) empty their pocketbooks on fees, uniforms, travel, concessions, fund-raisers and more, 2) drive everywhere, 3) deal with their kids not playing enough, getting injured, and terrible play-calling by people who are getting PAID to do their jobs. 4) deal with horrible refs who aren't supposed to be earning a LIVING with this. I thought they enjoyed it and it was supplemental income. All of a sudden we need a union, 401k, and medical benefits.

But yes. By all means, let's blame fans. Takes zero intelligence or effort. Sort of how these coaches and refs do their actual jobs- no intelligence or effort.

By no means am I blaming the fans for everything.  I know there are refs out there that will intentionally do things during a game just to see what they can and cannot get away with.  It is blatantly obvious, but there is nothing we can do about it.   But I also know that there are fans out there that all they want to do is antagonize the crap out of the refs and that is their sole intention.  They could care less about the actual game.  But I see more and more fans immediately jumping on the refs and bashing them due to a missed penalty in the game early on and not let up.   As far as you bulletin points 1-3, parents are going to do that whether or not the game has good refs or bad ones.  They want their kids to play so those points are invalid.

Why can't these officials make a living off of it?  I mean they do in the NFL and college (I know that these guys have other jobs along with refereeing).

  1. Yes, there are bad officials… but saying there are some that call stuff just to see what they can “get away with?” Maybe 1 out of 1000? These games are filmed & assigners can see the things you are talking about. So, I’ve got my doubts on the conspiracy that guys just call things to see what they can get away with.
  2. Officials numbers are down & it’s not gonna get better until pay increases & fans/coaches get off of their backs.
  3. There are a lot of guys being thrust onto the field & they aren’t ready… Young guys that could really benefit from running the clock and watching the more experienced dudes run a game. why? because the numbers are down & the guys making the schedule do not have a choice. They either go with the inexperienced guy or go short an officials. I’ve seen it more than once this year at games I’ve been to. Only 4 refs, when there should be at least 5. Ideally there would be 7. That will be the case in the later playoff rounds.  But until then — Trial by fire.

What games have you seen 4 officials on the field?

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
