Who are the top teams? I think it’s clear SGC may be a region favorite. Haven’t seen anything of liberty. Haywood and bolivar played last night. Both should be good. Not sure how many players haywood has out for football but I only saw a halftime score. I expect for boys to be down this year on this side of the state with West Carroll, Milan, and Peabody losing key players. I think JSSHS lost everyone and JNSHS lost a good chunk too.

I saw South Gibson in their play day. they looked okay. Did you see their game last night? I went to TCA Chester.  Chester has a lot of potential. TCA looks really good. Coach Williams Son is a player.

No I watched my nephew play. Union City vs Crockett. Just saw the SGC score and thought it was impressive they doubled up Peabody even though they don’t have the football kids.
yes dexter’s son is really good. He’s going to build a contender in D2-A soon

It was probably the game of the year and was only opening night. Neither team great. I don’t know how many UC football players are missing from the basketball team. Crockett hit a 3 to go up 1 with 15-20 seconds left.
Both teams play under control for the most part. Neither overly athletic or big.

Crockett returns a bunch of kids. They will be really good. If Union city played them that tough they are going to be good also.

I went to the South Gibson vs Dyersburg game Friday night. Dyersburg may be one of the biggest teams this season. Their 6'8" post kid is pretty good. They have another 6'5" or 6'6" kid that starts and sort of plays both in and out. And, another 6'4" or so kid off the bench. Their guards are strong! The kid that went to Dyer county and is now back at Dyersburg is legit. He is a game changer. Dyersburg won by 15 but the game was much closer than that. Dyersburg is better than South Gibson but not 15 points better, I say around 6-12

South Gibson was down 3 at half. They play super hard and played man the entire game. Not the typical South Gibson team. They really guard you and they didn't make 3's. in the past they played a lot of zone and made a lot of 3's.  I felt like they may be able to shoot it better than they did that night and if they made more 3's the game ends different.  I think they will get better as the year goes on.

I'm going to see them again tomorrow night because I want to see the Girls game.

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
