Kade was in a vehicle accident Thanksgiving night. He was transported by ambulance to North Alabama Medical Center ER. He was diagnosed with a concussion and left knee dislocation. Kade was in a lot of pain hurting in both legs while in the ER. He was then transported by ambulance to Huntsville Main ER due to level of trauma he had sustained. They were unable to find pulses in both feet and were concerned about blood supply to lower legs due to bilateral knee injuries. Kade was taken to emergency surgery to try to restore blood flow to his lower legs. He stayed in surgery 4-5 hours with the vascular surgeon. The injury to both knees tore 4 ligaments in the right knee and 3 ligaments in the left knee also tearing the main blood vessel on both knees that supply the lower legs with blood. A vein graph was used to bypass the torn blood vessel to restore blood to the lower legs. He also had developed compartment syndrome (swelling of legs). They had to cut his legs to relieve the pressure. The vascular surgeon restored blood flow to the lower legs. Due to the multiple ligament tears in the knee and the repaired blood vessels in the knees an orthopedic surgeon had to do a external fixation to both legs. This involved putting screws and rods on the outside of the legs to provide stabilization. This surgery lasted about 2 hours. Kade then went to recovery and then to the surgical trauma ICU room 19.
Brandi and Eric was able to see Kade at 8:30pm for the first time since going into surgery that morning at 11:00. Kade was alert, talking, pain was under control at this time. Brandi and Eric will receive a phone call to give update at 6:00 am in the morning. They will get to go in and see him at 10:00-10:30am.
Kade’s family would like to thank everyone for the calls, text, prayers and visitations. We are so blessed to have the support of family, friends and church during this time. We have created this page to keep everyone update on his status during his recovery. Continue to pray!! Kade is facing a long recovery with his legs. We give God the praise for His grace and mercy! This accident could have resulted in much worse outcomes. God was watching over Kade and has a plan for him, a plan that we may not understand now but know that it is His will for Kade. We give Praise to our God for sparing Kade’s life. He will have obstacles but he is still with us and for that we are thankful. Pray for Kade. Pray specifically for pain control, his legs, and his mental strength/emotions in dealing with his leg injuries. Pray for Eric, Brandi, Kole and Jaci!
Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Brandi and Eric had a good visit with Kade. They were able to stay with him for about 30 min. His potassium is normal now. Everything systemic is good. Blood flow is good to legs. Kade didn’t want to talk much. He didn’t want to talk about himself. He just wanted to know who was here. All he said was mom what is the next step. He wanted Eric to rub his head. He is fully aware of his legs and the injuries he has had.
The dr that spoke with Brandi and Eric said that it is critical that the blood flow continues to leg and for some reason it is decreased or stops then they will start amputations. This he said was worse case scenario. So please pray specifically for that blood flow to stay strong to his legs.
The Ortho dr said that if no set backs after vascular is not an issue anymore and after halos stay on legs for about 6-8 weeks then he will start to repair the ligaments in the knees.
Kade is in a lot of pain. Says his knees and legs hurt so bad. He has sensation in his left but not his right this morning.
Thank you all for love and prayers.
