There have been several teams in the title game from the North east part of the state.  Elizabethton, Greenville, Hampton, Oneida, Cloudland, Tennessee not to mention it wouldn't be much of a haul for Alcoa, Maryville etc.

Again I think Martin, Johnson City, Chattanooga and Jackson would be good rotations if Jackson has a suitable facility.  However, it still comes down to whether anyone from those areas put in a bid.  In the past they have not and so all the whining and cheesing about it not being held in the west Tennessee grand division in the past is moot.

Jackson does not, old Lambuth Stadium has nowhere near the capacity. U of M would have to put some major work into it.

I would personally be down with a Chattanooga, Rutherford County/Nashville, and Clarksville rotation though. I don't see that ever happening, but that would be a nice little arrangement.

Can you give me some odds on Mountain City (Johnson County) making it to a state championship?? They are 2-9, 2-8, 4-6, 4-7 the last 4 seasons.  Not really worried about their commute because they won't have one.

Ok, fair enough. Lets change it from Mountain City to Cloudland, Hampton, or Elizabethton. All three of which have made it to at least the semifinals as recently as 54 weeks ago.

Take the aforementioned drive times and deduct from the Mtn. City time roughly 20 minutes (Cloudland,) 30 minutes (Hampton,) and 35 minutes (Elizabethton.)

See, just a small change in the metrics and my point is still valid, while your argument is now completely moot.

Chatt is too far for West.Id love to see Martin or Austin Peay .Prefer Nashville over driving to Chatt. Not fair for West teams. If going to do that,at least rotate it .Chatt one year.Nashvilke one year and somewhere in Wesr one year. That way ,only a very long drive every 3 years and everyone would have to travel about the same.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to keep beating this dead hourse.

I can't feel sorry, at all, for West TN schools complaining about a long drive when Chattanooga is closer to the western extremities of the state than Nashville/Rutherford County (you know, the magical "centralized locations") is to the eastern extremities of the state. Could also be because I had to ride in a school bus nearly 1100 miles round trip, at the end of May, three years in a row to play at rundown ballfields in the disastrous Spring Flings Memphis put on.

As a West Tn. native, I have to agree with the fact that Memphis shouldn't be an option any more than Bristol should, just for what I have stated about Chattanooga being too far for a one day trip. There should be an imaginary circle drawn in the geographical center of the state, or at least a mileage limit from the extremities of our state boundaries regarding cities eligible to place bids to host. Again...I'd personally like for chambers of commerce to put together a "presentation" that included more than just a cash offering to TSSAA in order to elevate the experience for the teams and fans. Won't happen, because TSSAA is only interested in stuffing their accounts with cash.

I’ve used your last statements in an argument as to why Memphis shouldn’t have the state. I remember the spring flings in Memphis and if I remember correctly USA stadium in Millington and the privates in Memphis didn’t want  to have anything to do with it which is why a lot of the games were played at terrible high school fields until the state championship games. Memphis just isn’t interested in having events like this.

Memphis can't have the state championship for football for two reasons: 1) if the Memphis Tigers finish first in their conference, they can host their conference championship game. That game will be on the same weekend as the TSSAA state championships. 2) locker room space. There's only two locker rooms inside the Liberty Bowl. There's not enough space to store a team that plays in the following game. I'm curious to see how MTSU handled that, I'm sure they sent teams inside the Murphy Center.

For West Tennessee to host a state championship, they can host spring fling and have their baseball/softball games at the high schools in Jackson. The "championship game" will be at the Ballpark (Diamond Jaxx/Generals stadium) and softball/soccer champion games at Union University. Jackson can defiantly host the spring fling.

The Liberty bowl wouldn’t be a good spot, I’ve heard they are making additions to the stadium and that will be good but that’s been long overdue.

Jackson would be a good spot to host at the Generals stadium, they don’t have a pro team anymore and they can use that stadium to host a big event like spring fling. There’s Unions field that can host to if needed and also Jackson State.  It wouldn’t be a bad thing either because spring fling in Murfreesboro is starting to not even have the championship games for baseball or softball at MTSU. All that is theorizing because at the end of the day they have to bid and win but the possibility would be good.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
