What are the rules for a high school player to transfer from a public school to a private school without an address change?  Public school is three miles from home.  Private school is around nine miles from home address.  Thank you.

Wonder how long before the wannbe NCAA(TSSAA) creates their version of the tranfer portal now that NIL is a thing.

If the new school is a TSSAA school and the player has a varsity record at the previous school he/she has to sit out a year or file a “hardship” request. If the player can prove the move is not athletically related (parent divorced, academic, bullying etc.) and the previous school principal signs off on it - the TSSAA could approve the transfer. If it’s a private school that is not a TSSAA member school the player does not have to sit out.

20 miles door to door as the crow flies

Is the Boo Carter kid going to be eligible at Chattanooga Brained. He transferred from CCS a private school. Private to public is same as public to private. I have heard he is playing basketball at Brainerd now. He is also highly recruited football player. How does he get eligible for his senior year?

They would have to apply for a hardship waiver to be eiligible, otherwise he would have to wait 365 days from his last play at CCS to play at Brainerd. If he played basketball at CCS and he's currently playing at Brainerd then it sounds like he already received the waiver.

Blaine Bishops son played WR for Brentwood vs Independence week 7, round 2 of the playoffs he played WR for Independence vs Brentwood.

there are no rules

If they moved as a family into a new zone, then they would be immediately eligible and the 20 mile rule would not apply from public to public.
