Anyone who supports free market capitalism should fully embrace Name Image and Likeness. NIL is free market capitalism at its finest.  Paying for apartments, paying bills, providing vehicles, and providing employment for parents has been going on for years and years across the state across many sports.  The TSSAA just took this issue off of their plate.  These issues have been and will continue to be nearly impossible to police.

This deal is not "for the kids"... this is intended for those with the means to be free from scrutiny when actively recruiting athletes, period. TSSAA's mission statement includes the language for providing a level playing field, yet they just enabled an outside entity to bribe an athlete to play for the school of their choosing over another, that without their influence the kid would be enrolled at. It just so happens that the collateral damage will elevate "daddy ball" to heights never witnessed before, along with selfish play (can't get a deal by playing team ball). If you believe that this is free market capitalism rather than exploitation of minors, you probably approved of Nike shoes being made in those sweat shops where 10 year-olds were working 16 hour shifts making 50 cents a day... just sit back and see how this works.

Who knew that if a kid in high school gave a 8 year old hitting lessons, and got paid for the instruction, that was a violation.  If that is the case, I hope the statue of limitiations is up for someone who graduated in 2015.  LOL.

You took the kid's lunch money as payment?   I hope they lock you up a couple days.

    • Maybe some of the historians can get on here and help me out, but has anybody from Tennessee ever had as much success in an international style as Boykin? The only other Tennessee native I can remember competing for world team spots is the older Boykin in freestyle and he wasn't nearly as close as Nick has been to making world teams.
    • Whoever gets the job will have some opportunities to compete year end and year out. The sophomore class has some talent and the middle school has some good athletes coming thru. If the right coach comes thru he can build a winning program.

    • Nick Boykin lost to Joe Rau so Rau and Vera are in the finals tonight does that mean that Nick Boykin is eliminated from qualifying?
