Greenback 2023

Seems to me Greenback has a thing for a someone that has experience playing the fiddle as Murphy College said. That's how someone that recently resigned down there was sent packing from his former place of employment because he jumped up on a hickory stump and played that fiddle hard and got caught.

Information that I heard was this. The AD and Mr. Moffett wanted to open up the whole application process again. But were told no by either Mr. Brookshire or Mr. Tinker. The chairman of committee should have made the decision. (Right or wrong) But, my question is why they did not continue the process they had already used? 3rd  person with most votes. Sounds like Coach Ryan was not the guy they wanted, so at that time they changed their process. In the end, had our community rep voted for us, Coach Ryan could have secured the job (maybe) but he voted for Clemmer. If you’re not happy, let him know at the ballot box.

The Philadelphia bulll has caused the most commotion by playing a fiddle that I’ve ever seen. I haven’t seen this much commotion over a fiddler since the residents of Portville rioted and dern near burnt down Allegheny Springs because Brookshire, Moffit, and Tinker  voted to cancel hee haw and the residents of Morganton road couldn’t watch Roy Clark play the fiddle on the tv. Gideon Morgan rolling in his grave. I just hope the moms from Allegheny keep the kitty in the bag.

You bet I will, and I’ll work to help anyone who runs against him.

I wonder if the new principal realizes the bridges he has burned in the community?

Likely doesn’t care. At least appears that way from the outside.

I have read some pieces of the postings, so what is the deal with the coach? hired or not hired?

All hires are off of a recommendation by the school's administration and are always pending board approval. The administration has chosen a coach, but the community does not like that choice. Unless it is a Rush Propst situation the board typically follows through on the recommendation by the administration. However, a date much like January 6, 2021 has been planned for Loudon County. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Dumpster fire out yet?

Its starting to look like it... less than 10 ppl showed up to the workshop so the "main" ppl on the board just played dumb while a couple ppl spoke. Actual meeting is next week, hopefully there's a packed house.

    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
