Blade walked in and changed their helmet which had been their brand for over 50 years and upset all the natives in Oak Ridge. Derek Rang knows about tradition and not about to mess with that.

I guess it's a good thing Kevin Creasy doesn't coach for OR then, they might have stroked out if he made wholesale changes to the uniform.

Tradition isn't something that's locked in place forever, if you've done well as a program it's something each coach  adds his own spin to over the years. OR hasn't won a title in over 30 years, so maybe things should get changed up.

Haha you don’t know OR fans to well. That helmet logo is a special thing here. The most traditional teams at every level, including college and pros don’t change things up. It’s kind of an unwritten rule. Look at Bama, UGA, Penn St, Ohio State, Michigan, and the list goes on. The Chicago Bears haven’t won anything in eons, but try to change their logo up. Haha. Some things just aren’t meant to be messed with. UT fans would flip if they changed the power T and they haven’t won anything going on 25 years now. Same exact thing.

Difference is you ask ppl to pick out a helmet of those teams and they can. Ask someone from West TN to pick out OR's helmet and they'll draw a blank. Alot of OR folks are prioritizing the wrong things. Creasy could have changed Oakland's colors to pink & yellow and I wouldn't have cared. I'm not a huge fan of the powder blues, but the kids love it, that's good enough for me.

If the kids want to change it up, Rang should do it. It's adding to tradition, not stripping it away

Lol that's dumb. If a coach doesn't have the power to simply change things like uniforms logos etc then he's obviously not really in charge. Also felt compelled to speak on the subject since I'm a Vols and Bears fans and you mentioned both. Bears fans have been rallying for at least an alternate helmet/logo for years. And I could've swore Josh Huepel broke out the first orange helmet in UT history this past year and it was loved but maybe it was all a dream.

Im not really talking about logos on the uniforms. That has been fiddled with through the years. UT did have orange helmets (which I thought were awful looking, mind you), but the power T still reigned on the side of the helmet. I’m completely fine with uniform modifications. I’d even be fine if they wanted to change the color of the helmet, but the helmet decal is unique to our football program.

I ain't around here much in the off season and this thread is why.  Yall is discussin if the shoes and socks match and the like.  Bunch of grown men talking about uniforms. UNIFORMS!!

Anyway, sounds like the young man from DCA will be a helpful addition to the Oakland stable of running backs.  He will have to compete for playing time.  No shortage of very good rb's at Oakland

    • If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
    • The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
    • Yeah it will take the county kids in that area that were going to lenior city. They will move down to 4a I think
