Forfeit tonight

I was disappointed to see Lookout Valley listed as a forfeit to Van Buren, unless numbers due to sickness and/or injuries have them too low. I’ve seen plenty of teams go with 6 and play at times without subbing. No they haven’t had a good season but they did play two in the district tournament just last week. Any penalty for forfeits just to avoid a heavy loss, if numbers available weren’t a factor?

second straight year they have forfeited their first-round region game.

They probably don’t have good numbers and they definitely haven’t had the wins the last couple of years, especially compared to when players from the city would show up there-but if they can’t fulfill a region schedule the TSSAA needs to consider if they should be a TSSAA program. Let them play non league for a classification period.

Don’t want anyone to forfeit but TSSAA has to change the system.  Districts with 4 teams letting lots of teams in regional that have no business in it. Used to have to earn the region   Teams in boys and girls all over the state getting beat by 40-60 points. It’s ridiculous

The blowouts in the 1st round of regions have always been a thing though, especially in the east, and especially in 1A. On one hand the TSSAA doesn't need to have 3 and 4 team districts. But on the other hand, in 1A at least, there's only so much that can be done. Aside from the Roane/Morgan county area, 1A teams east of the Cumberland plateau are sparse. Between consolidation, and the decreasing RURAL population in eastern TN, there fewer and fewer 1A schools.

That’s why the system needs to be changed.  Why do 4 teams have to advance

I could live with or perhaps the top 3 out of district play advance. From the region level on, I say put an extra layer of tape on your ankles and synch up your pants, single elimination moving forward

Skip the sectional round and region champs go to state?
