Yes Bruce Slatten coached them. They were an absolute machine.

We went to the same high school. He graduated one year behind me. I thought he coached Perry County back then. Good coach and an even better person.

93-94 BGA
92-93 BGA

Those three teams stick out to me for sure. Seth Pettus, OJ Fleming, Jeff Vanlandingham teams were equally as good as that 96-97 PC. Remember, the 93-94 BGA team had lost to Goodpasture in the region championship and then defeated them for the gold ball, a team that featured Ron Mercer, Drew Maddux, and Sam Howard.

Perry county 97 team with Hastings. They put us out of the State tournament with ease. Kirk Hastings was unstoppable. I’m on the channel 2 news getting dunked on by him. I still have nightmares about that game and I’m not joking.

Haston, Jones, Brown, Hamm, Rhodes, and many other great players on that team. They gave a lot of teams nightmares. So fun to watch play!

They didn’t win a state title which still blows my mind, but 93-94 Goodpasture team had the most talent of any 1A team ever. 

Mercer, Maddux, Howard- how do you not win A with three SEC players!

Memphis Mitchell 14-15 team and its not even close. 1 D2 player, 6 D1 players just off the top of my head if I had to bet i would say that entire roster played college ball. There has never and will never come close to this team.
