Bearden vs. Clinton Scrimmage scores, touchdowns, interceptions, and my notes.

Clinton

RB/FS Jawan Goins 1 INT 1 TD

WR Bryson Maddox 1 TD

OLB/RB Chauncey Felts 1 TD

QB Josh Keith 1 TD

Bearden

RB/FS Jaheim Merriweather 1 TD

RB Jayzon Thompson 1 TD

WR Tory Beaufort 1 TD

QB Drew Parrott 1 TD

Final score

21-21

Some notes I took

Bearden:

They currently have a quarterback Battle. They have a very, very bad offensive line. However, they have two extremely elusive and powerful running backs; if they’re O-Line can figure stuff out how to Block correctly by the time  week 1 comes around it’s going to be very VERY dangerous, it might be unstoppable. The D-Line doesn’t look like it deflated at all, even though they lost many senior D linemen, DBs, they looked very good when they weren’t guarding Bryson Maddox; however, every time they went one on one up against him, they either got beat or mossed.

Clinton:

QB Josh Keith looked very good, even though half of his passes were just toss-ups to Bryson Maddox. Clinton’s O-lineman looks like it didn’t even take a step back, even though they lost a very big senior O-lineman to Vanderbilt and their defense was all over the place. I don’t even know what to say about their defense other than that it looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off.

Injuries

Bearden #1 DB Chastin Smith

Bearden Starting C Isaiah Harvey

I made the treck down 75 and  had similar observations as well Elias. Thought it was funny bearden left the scoreboard on as 23-0 apparently as a petty response to last years issues. Was very impressed with Chauncey he looks to have improved even from last year. Very solid player whos going to make some noise this year in Clinton region. bearden needs 6, 21, and 3 to stay healthy they're the whole offense. they're special. OL and QB big issues.  interesting that 1, I believe Sam tummins, was not really involved in the offense. bearden very fast on defense but seemed lost at times and outgapped. not nearly as lost as clinton's defense though. YIKES. bearden won't play a worse defense than that this year outside hva. exciting times for clinton though, the talent is clearly there and the coaches have the boys playing hard enough to win games. they will defintely improve on their 3-12 region record over the last couple of years. HOpe both teams stayed healthy!

Did Goliath not show up?

They did have five very important starters out that I was not aware about, they were missing, 2026 Power 5 corner prospect Chaz Smith and 2025 RB/LB Kai Ironside. They also didn't have starting tight end Preston Gould (2024), starting receiver Braden Perkins (2024), or center Isaiah Harvey (2025). I’m not saying the outcome would’ve been different, but that’s something to keep in mind. I was not aware of that, and I do know that it makes more sense.

I’ve been to many spring games, and the scoreboard is almost never on, and I’m pretty sure Beardrn is replacing their scoreboard this off-season with a video board. I don’t even think it works, but I could be wrong. I never even looked at it.

Clinton's defense is what I'm concerned about most of all. I know the coaching staff is doing what they can to have this team ready by August 18th!!

Must have been too busy coaching!

Oh that will be very cool! Not sure how that benefits the young men but it sure will look neat! Scoreboard could have been left on from their last home game last year, but checking the coacht schedules that was another loss to farragut so that doesn't make sense.  Oh well! Very competitive 21-21 scrimmage between Bearden and Clinton!

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
