Or..... what?!?!?!?       He gets replaced with another good-ole-boy?        Yeah man, I know what you mean though.    Think if they can finally beat Science Hill this year that will keep him @ the helm?

They used to beat SH most of the time, but lately the Hilltoppers are dominating. All programs eventually come to the point to where they run out of good ole boys, and they have to go to the outside and hire based on qualifications. I would like to see DB good again...

The band shouldn't affect the football program negatively as some seem to indicate. Indeed it should be an asset, the pregame show is really good and is a boost to the football team coming on to the field. It still comes down to talent, coaching and preparation. what I have seen the last couple of seasons is the Indians have not performed up to the level of talent that they have and this last season (viewing the Science Hill game online) they got out talented as SH had more speed and athletes. I think the clock is ticking on the Christian program, I really think he needs a breakout year soon, or..........

Seems like some opinions of the head coach are he is trying to deflect blame And make it more about his staff. That never works. Take ownership why don’t ya

You have to understand how things work in Kingsport. The "base" just needs something to brag about. As long as the Band is great, they have that to brag about, so they're not that concerned about the football program. It will take pressure from the "base" for changes to be made. The "Good Ole Boys" are firmly entrenched. If one goes down another will step up. The only way it gets fixed is if it implodes. Which is a real possibility. Kids are already losing interest. If they get down to .500 or less seasons, losing 7 or 8 games it will be embarrassing to the elites. Thats the only way a house cleaning will happen.

And if there are a lot of empty seats at J Fred.....

There's already a lot of empty seats. The upper deck is rarely half full unless you have a Maryville or if it's the Science Hill game. That was built more for Funfest concerts anyway. 1/3 of the "fans" are long time DB football fans. 1/3 are students, and 1/3 are there to see the band. When DB starts stringing together .500 or less seasons the students will just start going to the mall parking lot to hang out on Friday nights. The longtime fans will lose interest, and the Band parents will be the only ones left. At that point they might as well abolish football and have Band Shows on Friday nights.

As the season gets nearer here's an updated look @ DB 2024

Wins (5) - West Ridge, Asheville, Mo East, William Blount, David Crockett
Losses (3) - Greeneville, Elizabethton, Science Hill
Tossups (2) - Farragut, Jefferson County

DB will have enough good players to win most of those, but Joey Christian's coaching is so bad, it's a 4 win season the way I see it. Guaranteed to start running out the clock of every game, during pre-game...and never change that strategy even if 2 TD's behind. I would be elated going 0-10 if Christian would get fired...maybe going 0-4 in Region would be bad enough to get a new Coach?

Losses (6) - Greeneville, Elizabethton, Science Hill, West Ridge, Jeff County, Farragut

No possible way DB loses to West Ridge

You're right about Christian. But he's not the only one. There're probably two coaches on that whole staff that are keepers. The rest are there because of connections, not because of ability. They are all good people, just not good coaches. I just heard that McMillian from Volunteer has resigned as head coach and will be returning to DB as an assistant. It just never ends.

Who are your keepers?
