DB is not the only school that is getting out coached most every Friday night!  Very few schools have the administration, parents, faculty and school board pulling on the same end of the rope.  Until high school athletics become a priority for the community you will NEVER WIN outside of your geographical area.

Elizabethton and Greeneville are perfect examples of how to build a championship football program. And it's not even rocket science. The arrogance at DB and Science Hill will not permit the same system at their schools because "they didn't think of it". When the new Christian School is built, they will draw most of the top athletes in the area. The only thing that keeps DB and Science Hill above .500 is their athletes.

Unfortunately private schools have taken over high school athletics in Tennessee.  The public schools have never wanted to accept the fact that education is a business and you must treat the students and families as your customers.  The private schools truly understand the business of education.  Sadly some of the students that are graduating from their local public schools are 2-4 years behind many of the students at the academically elite private schools.  It’s not a money issue it’s a philosophy problem that does not appear to be getting any better.  No Child Left Behind is really ALL CHILDREN ARE BEING LEFT BEHIND.

I yield to you on all things DB, as I am not all that familiar with that area of the state. I do admit that on other forums I have sometimes referred to DB as The Best Program In Tennessee Never To Play In Game 15. I had Anderson Co. in 2nd place in this category until two years ago.

No NET 5A or 6A team will ever play 15 games

Waco, if they moved up they would have to declare up. GHS is a 175 students shy of 5A and Betsy is 275 short .

Yeah, I know. Maryville declared up to 6A and it's worked out pretty well for them. But there are a lot of people moving to upper east Tn. so you never know what will happen in the near future. I don't think there's any doubt that both schools would have won multiple state championships already in 5A.

You are correct about growth in Greeneville. But many are retirees without kids. Californians galore, uhhh, I sold my parents home to Californians.  My realtor was aggressive, had a winning plan and a big finish, Coach Cain Ballard.

Noones you think Coach Ballard would consider coaching at Greeneville again in the future.

I’ve wondered that As well Lawny. But I believe that is the past. Cain enjoys life,  family and work. As a coach he was driven with a plan that connected every dot. I was on the administrator team that hired Coach. I forget that was a long time ago and Cain is a well rounded man who farms, outdoors man, major family man, realtor and Christian.

He could fool me though.

    • Four kids? You don’t have clue. Poor kid you should do your research on what that kid was doing.
    • I stand by my recruiter accolade. Evans enrolled at CPA in high school. So many of CPA’s players attended their middle school and live close enough that CPA (and BA, MBA, Ensworth, & BGA) was a legit option. Bentley is pulling kids in from 30+ minutes away. He is hustling. I won’t assume that any of these players are on aid but the school is spending money on a new video board according to people on campus recently. I haven’t been to CPA recently but they never needed bells and whistles to impress me.  FRA doesn’t stand a chance against BGA in the fall.
    • The same thing?    That’s laughable!   It was so bad what the four of them did to that poor kid in htown that if I posted it, coach T would kick me off.  They should have been in jail during the season, not playing football.
    • Dekalb Co and Smith Co would have both went 7-3 if they had beat UHS like they had traditionally done in the past leading up to 2013. Thst would have made the Dekalb/Smith game for the regional title. Maynord didnt do any favors for SC with the schedule he left them. RB Milon was probably one the fastest I have ever seen for the Tigers. DT Eli Gill was best DT ever at Dekalb in my opinion.  RB Jalen Manning was a freak playing RB for the Owls. DT/OT King was a great two way player at around 290lbs. I have seen way way worse Smith and Dekalb teams than this year. And some bettet. Gordonsville did lose alot other that great RB. Agree, UHS should have beat all three and did. How they beat them is what was so impressive. Blowouts by halftime. I don't know thst UHS punted any in any first half of those games. One can argue Herron left to many starters in after the half, but the staff was young and enjoying first time success since the 90s.  I can remember a few 40 or more point games when DeKalb and Smith never took the foot off the gas verse the Bees. Particularly DC in 2011.  That's part of it.
