Alcoa opening

Cleveland had this problem in the 90’s. In one cycle we paid a really good team from Memphis to come to Cleveland 2 straight years. We paid their hotel bill, plus bought them lunch at Ryan’s.

Some schools in better parts of the burbs in Chicago have done that. They would send busses to inner city Chicago to pick up a school to play them & take them back. Anybody from that school that wanted to go would be provided trans to & from & free food & admission. The team that came would get fed after the game too

We're down to the nub and getting a 10th game kind of reminds me of these restaurants having to pay some loser a $500 signing bonus just to show up for work.

This is why we need to adopt a power rating system for determining playoff eligibility. If a team is going to duck competition, then they need to be penalized for it. Its ridiculous that some programs have to spend all summer trying to find a game

Alcoa has a very good Athletic Director whom I wish we had at Maryville and I'm pretty sure he has burned the midnight oil looking for a team. I realize no team in the state wants to lose to a 3A team which may benefit them if they move up  one wheather their eligible or not. Alcoa has the best athletes per 100 students I've ever seen and have had for a long long time. The secrect there is that the coach must establish dominance and the kids buy in which has always worked well the past twenty five years.

3A to 4A, they would still posssible only have 4 regional teams on schedule. Last time Alcoa voluntarily announced they were moving up, half the teams in the purposed region moved up to 5A. 

Out of Region teams on the schedule this year:

6A Ravenwood, 6A Bearden,  4A Greeneville,  5A West, 6A Maryville. 

That's 5 out of region teams signed.

The REAL problem is TSSAA has allowed Region 2, 3A teams easy access to move to other regions, leaving region 2 with 5 teams total. Several years ago, North View and Gatlinburg Pitman moved out. Then Union County moved in, but Loudon was allowed to move out. My thought is It would be absolutely no difference for Alcoa in 4A or 5A, when teams do not want to play them.

I would like to see Alcoa vs Anderson County in the next round of scheduling. I’m looking forward to the Alcoa/Greeneville game this year.

Alcoa AD has made the call to AC & Elizabethton in attempt to get games......not much luck.

They should also penalize these schools who won’t makeup a game & just cancel it after a storm

5Star Preps is reporting that Condis Cherry is enrolling at Alcoa.

I would love to see Upperman and Alcoa play yearly out of conference. Would helps the Bees with Greeneville and Pearl's come playoff time.
