Just curious, why is no one talking about Oakland traveling to Texas to take on Anna, Texas, the defending 4A Texas State Champs?

This will be interesting! Of course i will be pulling for my fellow Tennesseans to bring the W back home!

Glad to see Oakland representing Tennessee. I will definitely be watching. I'll be proud and consider it a good game if they keep it within 28. Oakland has a very good team, especially in the defensive backfield, but their O line and D line is very questionable. They got exposed by Houston last season, and they also lost one of their top linemen. I think to Brentwood Academy or maybe Baylor, but will be a tough challenge for them.

Don't get me wrong, he's a big guy with all the measurables, but not one of the top linemen. I'll let you decide how to take that.

If Creasy does the right thing, Oakland will be just fine and likely back in Chattanooga.

I have no doubt that Oakland will return to Chattanooga. They will do well against Tennessee teams, but I was referring to the Texas team that they are going to face, one of the best teams in the state of Texas. I'm just stating the facts. You all lost two starting offensive linemen and that tight end who basically played as a right tackle. Additionally, the defensive line is not strong, and you missed out on a transfer that could have helped. I won't mention any names, but we both know who I'm talking about. At least you guys went hard to have a strong defensive backfield. However, it is still undeniable that there are question marks surrounding the offensive and defensive line, especially going into the season. It's quite radical and laughable to deny that, but you can believe whatever you want.

Let’s give credit where credit is due and say congratulations to Oakland for playing Anna.  However, this is not one of the Top 10 teams in Texas!  Oakland is not playing Ducanville, Desota, South Lake Carroll, Westlake or even Northshore of Houston.  Yes, Anna is a good team (Top 20) but they are not one of the very best teams in Texas.

I agree! Credit to them for taking that step!

I hope no one thinks that i was saying they were a top 10 team in Texas! I have no idea if they are or not ( i would say not being they are 4A and Texas has 6A or maybe even 7A).

What i will say is that a 4A state champ team out of Texas will probably handle Oakland just fine, maybe even win. No disrespect to Oakland at all, it's just that high school football in Texas is likely on a whole different level than Tennessee.

Other than a handful of teams that are mostly private, TN football is generally mediocre.

Because on this board if you don't play football in East TN, your a footnote

Shame that Oakland has to spend all offseason every year finding a game to go on the road when I'd rather they schedule another elite TN program and bring in a big gate

We may very well get our teeth kicked in but come playoff time we will be all the better for it

Throughout Creasy's tenure the one constant has been great line play. Oakland will be fine. Won't need much of a block to spring Morris or Haynesworth for 6.

Houston exposed everybody on their way to a title. No shame in it, they earned their title going through a gauntlet of really good teams

I know next to nothing about Texas football, except that it is really good. I wish Tennessee and Georgia didn’t change schedules on different years so that they could have more teams schedule each other.

All you need to know about Texas high school football is they place a huge amount of emphasis on the sport.  It’s nothing unusual for school districts to refuse to split the student body and build new schools and that is because they don’t just want to win but they want to win in the highest classification.  There is also a reason that man Texas high schools play in 20K+ stadiums.

The question is WTH does Oakland have to travel to Texas to get a FOOTBALL GAME! Oan I actually think Oakland has a good chance to win especially if the DLine can get going against their four star QB. Anna isd just won their first championship and Texas folks are staying there about to be a DFW power house. Something else Oak will have to worry about is that Texas heat especially on that turf. Hope the fans travel. They don’t go by them Tssaa rules.
