Oakland's offense is as electric as ever, way better than last year, the face they were able to get 300+ rushing yards without morris really says something, this team is coming for revenge...

There has been much improvement on the offensive side of the ball this year.

Every school you named except Southlake Carroll has double Oakland's enrollment or more. Not exactly equal

Equal enrollment or not the best teams in Texas are superior to the best teams in Tennessee.  In Texas many of the communities with great football programs refuse to build other high schools because they want to win the state championship in the top classification.  Unlike most schools in Tennessee that want to avoid moving up in classification.  With regards to high school athletics, Tennessee and Texas have a completely different philosophy.

Some excellent points here.

Rutherford County has decided to expand Oakland, Riverdale and Smyrna instead of building new schools. All will have the capacity of 2800-3000 students in August 2025 which likely means they'll have 3300 kids before they're deemed overcrowded. I'm eager to see how this affect the athletic programs at each school.

I don't think many would argue that. Texas is a football crazy state with over 30 million people. They should be better.  But when you go off a per captia basis its closer than it probably should be. And nothing should be taken away from Tennessee teams going out west and beating championship programs of a similar size. Regardless of classification differences.

Not really they didn’t lose a lot on that line and they only got better at skill position players.

On the offensive side of the ball they did, they had a BIG senior class last year and most of them were BIG dudes, compared to last year they are average and definitely smaller, now I do agree the skilled position is good, but they’re gonna have to rely on speed and quickness

    • They have led two games late and have fallen apart both times. Something about the old saying "they don't know how to win" is certainly ringing true in this instance. Play calls don't have any rhyme or reason with no thought given of setting up the next play or plays. They were 3rd & 1 right before the fumble that set SG up for the winning score and went pass, which was incomplete. SG was more physical up front but line up and give the ball to big 24 and he probably gets that yard and you can milk the clock from there. It's tough to watch.
    • Tygard has improved the program so much in a short time. I don’t believe we have enough depth to compete with good 6a teams right now. I hope I’m wrong Friday night but I think Bearden wins it.
    • All these years Seymour had good football teams. Hard to believe they are this bad.  Seymour has grown like crazy. You think they would still be good in football.
    • Looks like a Memphis school schedule.
    • Gordy lost a RB and was playing their second game without him. The kids they had on the field had two weeks to practice and gameplan without him. Obviously, his backup is capable. We lost, not a RB, but one the most productive RBs in the entire state on the first play of the 3rd Q. After the coaches made halftime adjustments which I assume included a lot of #13 on offense and defense. We also lost our leading receiver and best defensive player on last play of 2nd Q. Both of their backups weren't available Friday. The 3rd RB went out after two carries. Our 4th RB plays every snap on defense and special teams and was exhausted by the 4Q. More backups than starters were on the defense in the 4Q when the wheels came off.     Again sounds like a guy who watched last quarter of the game. The stream failed in the first half so maybe that's what happened. Plays you missed, our guys did multiple shifts and motion on punt team and hit an uncovered guy downfield for a huge conversion. Former DC at Oakland was completely fooled. Facing a 4th and 12 our guys perfectly executed a hook and lateral for a 35 yard TD and took the lead in the 2ndQ. No way either of those happens last season.  Gordy has been there before. 2nd or 3rd round playoff games are not an expectation but has been a reality there. Their coach is in his 3rd season with a much more storied football program. The only difference in the teams going into the 4Q was a botched XP. It was 28-19, a one TD difference, with 6 minutes to play.  If #13 and 0 are healthy for 4 quarters, we win this game. Go back and watch the 2023 game, nothing was like the year before. Our line isn't big or physical we will get out-muscled by big physical teams. That's physics not coaching. We don't have the DBs to cover anyone, so coach has a choice protect your DBs and get gashed by the run or play the run and watch your DBs chase 5 yards behind wide open receivers.    Which QB are you going with? This offense needs a guy who is either a good runner or a great reader or an accurate passer. All three would be ideal. Neither has separated himself from the other. It's been a wash when they're in there. They both need to be on the field on offense and defense.
