2024-1A Region 7

Recommended Posts

Here’s the squads, let the region predictions begin!

Dresden Lions, Gleason Bulldogs, Greenfield/Bradford Yellowjackets????, Halls Tigers, Humboldt Vikings, Lake Co. Falcons, South Fulton Red Devils, Union City Golden Tornadoes

I assume, most will have UC taking the cake….given the returners/talent pool/enrollment numbers. Have fun fellas “Geez, it’s just a game”

UC-LC-SF-Dresden-Gleason-Halls-Humboldt -Greenfield

I could see Gleason sneaking into the 4 in all honesty.. they’ve got a decent JR class and a stud RB. People will look at them and say they lost their QB but they have a big QB that can run , will be hard to bring down when a lot of attention will be on the RB . We shall see though if they can compete on the los with Dresden .

Word on the street, is that Bradford boys are coming to play at Greenfield.

1. Union City

2. Dresden

3. Lake County

4. South Fulton/Halls

Union City is obviously cream of the crop and we will see what Dresden has after graduating a bunch and inserting a new coach. I expect Dresden to continue to be the same hard-nosed ball team they always have been. Lake County will be Lake County, their new HC has been there so things will stay consistent. Heard a lot of good things about South Fulton, but also hearing their a bunch of improvement in Halls. Can't wait to see how everything plays out!

Been hearing the buzz about Halls too, things should be interesting.

    • Honestly,  I hope "they are just another person that walked the halls" even in season.  Schools that are doing anything to make athletes feel more important than other students are doing society and those athletes a disservice.  You've revealed your very flawed world view.  Best of luck.
    • the discipline issues haven’t been fixed which worries me going into tougher games
    • Story time with uncle Crow! The story of how Oneida came to be a “mini UT” is interesting and not widely know. I will give some highlights and also give the disclaimer that I will probably miss a few details or possibly just flat out get something wrong but the broad strokes as I’ve been told are this. Back in the day the Oneida colors were blue, yellow and white but the equipment was quite worn and needed replacing. Like a lot of schools in the 50’s (I believe that’s the correct time period) money wasn’t readily available. As luck would have it the Oneida coach was a recent former UT player/graduate and still was connected to the university some way. Lots of details being left out but long story short there was a load of old equipment that found its way up here to supply the Oneida program. Of course the catch was obviously the colors didn’t match so the colors were changed to orange and white and many of the Oneida traditions that are still in place today were started as a tip of the hat for their assistance and are either a version of or in some cases a direct copy of the university’s traditions.  To quote Mike Rowe, Anyway, that’s the way I heard it.
    • I keep hearing conflicting reports.  Did Polk's qb get tossed for targeting or did it get reversed?  Will have to miss the first half this week?
