Are you just a sheriff burner? How many times are you going to repeat, "The cards are crumbling," or whatever? Is that just stuck in your head like Rain Man’s “underwear at Kmart” = “cards are crumbling”? I still don’t get the sniffing reference, and you probably don’t either. You just saw it with other mass disinformation about Coach T and started repeating it again like Rain Man. Is that your secret identity? Are you Rain Man?

LOL

I'm not going to disagree with you because I can't even remember their names, but their mother used to run along the streets of OR for exercise. It seems strange to me that someone who lives in Knoxville would drive to OR to get in her running. Is running in neighborhoods not allowed in Knoxville?

OK, I don’t think we’re talking about the same people anymore.

It seems like OR had brothers who moved to OR from Bearden 5-6 years ago. I can't remember their names but they were good players.

Jacob……..Can’t think of his last name for the life of me though. You’re correct, though, I had forgotten about them. Both were really good football players. Those are the only 2 I can think of though, as far as being from Bearden and playing for the Cats.

Jacob? Okay, never mind. We're definitely not talking about the same people. For the the oldest one, who I think went from middle school to Oak Ridge, and I know the youngest one did because he was in my class. Their family still lived in the same apartment complex. I can't tell you if they were good, I never kept up with Oak Ridge. I don’t remember their names, but they were two pretty big brothers. They were definitely not named Jacob or any basic white name like that—no offense to anyone named Jacob.

It was Jacob & Cole Adams who Wolfgang was thinking of. Jacob was a real good MLB.

Oh, interesting! I've never heard of them. The two players I was talking about went to Grace. I don't know how I thought they went to Oak Ridge, I got mixed up. Anyway, it seems that neither of them went to college, which is crazy. I remember them because their team was supposed to come into Bearden and be really good. Ryan Winkel was a standout, he was about 6'4" in 8th grade and played his freshman and sophomore years at Bearden. However, he ended up transferring to Christian Brothers and then committed to Arkansas. Morgan Ernst transferred to Webb, and I believe he went on to play at Army.

DJ Mitchell and Cam Blakely transferred to Catholic, but I'm not sure where either of them went to play college ball, if they even did. They were both very good. That class of 2018 was supposed to be something special, but many of them transferred. The class after that, the 2019 class, was also expected to be great, but they all transferred too, except for Tyson, who went on to EKU.

But anyway, it's not that, it's just that Bearden isn’t good at football and probably never will be, totally not because their players used to get poached all the time. No, absolutely nothing like that.

I don’t doubt that, it has always been the Wild West in Knox County, as far as kids transferring on a whim. Joel Helton was doing it big time at Central in their heyday, as well as others, I’m sure. Speaking of former Dawgs, my brother in-law is really good friends with former Bulldog Roy Nicaud. Have met him a few times. A really stand up dude. Great family.

I mean, I don’t really care. I’ve always believed in the kids should have the right to go to the school where they want to go to and they feel they have a better opportunity to go to but a lot of those kids are just rain chasing and will probably never start just like the quarterback. Y’all got a few years ago whose brother started at Bearden. He will likely never see the field, but at least he will get a ring, if they wanna get coached and get developed and get a lot of offers, they have two great choices between Lamar Brown and JJ coaches with a lot of contacts and I’ve put a lot of kids into college but good on west anything‘s better than Catholic or Webb or CAK for some reason nowadays.

I really don’t get this point, Drew Barrett has never wanted to be a quarterback. He has always been the most athletic and best suited to play quarterback, and he wants to win, so that’s what he did. He’s playing the position he loves now and played in middle school and has always wanted to play, which is receiver. He’s definitely happier, but he’s just a pure athletic freak. He would play any position the team needed him to. However, the position he wanted to play and wants to play in college is receiver, and thankfully, offers are rolling in for him now at receiver because he probably wasn’t going to go far as a quarterback—no offense, just the truth.

kind of what happened with John before you know y’all poached him.

From my perch at West High,

I mention Parrot because he’s the most obvious example to use. From everything that’s been said, a great kid who had to take some licks as a young starter until someone was recruited in to replace him. That was a young man put in a tough situation created by selfish adults. Any kid who is trying to get the most out of his senior year is going to act in the way you described it. You clearly have an intimate knowledge of that situation.

I didn’t mean to offend you about the kids transferring from West Valley to avoid getting recruited over but when over half of the starters are from inner city zones at some point the Bearden staff has to sleep in the bed they made. Writing it off as state championship chasing seems short sighted. You seem to be a school choice category with Bill but still want to point to a least common denominator when kids don’t want to be a part of the Bearden program.

The question a lot of Bearden parents are asking is why do these coaches want to coach at Bearden if they don’t want to coach Bearden kids? Fulton, AE, and Central are open every other year it seems like. Should they not go coach there?

OK, well I was curious about what you were talking about. I’m going to assume you’re referring to football and not just the student body. Based on the information I’ve received over the last four years regarding the Bearden MAC, which consists of a mix of West Valley students and Bearden middle students, only six players have transitioned from that team to West High School. Additionally, you can’t forget that the majority of Bearden middle students are actually zoned for West, so even if they play for the MAC team, they could still attend West. While most of those zoned for West choose to play for the West MAC team, it still occasionally happens that some play for the Bearden MAC team instead. So, I’m not sure what you’re referring to or why you believe there’s a significant influx of West Valley middle school students coming into West High School, but that seems incorrect. There was only one player from last year’s team who actually goes to West now, and he’s not even starting, nor is he listed on MaxPreps, so I’m not sure if he plays.

    • Read an article today where Anderson County got a Beerden transfer. Davy Boy Gillum is really selling his soul to try to get his daddy ball son a few wins.
    • They’ve got the old Big East conference back together. The only thing that conference was known for is beating up on the upper east TN directional schools then coming down to Knoxville and getting beat in the first or second round of the playoffs.
    • Poor Ray Co, they may never be relevant again after Power I Pemberton left. The Andy Kelly’s of the world ain’t going to Ray Co anymore.
    • Sad that backwards Campbell Soup County ran off the best coach in their history because this wife was black.  It’s ok to have a gigantic sex shop with places to have sex in the open, but they draw the line at whites marrying blacks.
