Greeneville @ Alcoa

Recommended Posts

I think this game will open Greeneville's eyes a little bit.  First Half was great tough noised football by both teams and Greeneville never adjusted in the 2nd half and couldn't get off the field on 3rd down (Alcoa controlled the clock in the 2nd half having it almost 17 out of the 24 mins).  You could tell Alcoa had been in those situations against their previous 2 opponents in Ravenwood and Bearden. ( Coach Spradlen felt the same way with this quote after the game “(Alcoa) didn’t change anything up, they stuck with what they had been doing. Our guys just haven’t been in situations like this. It’s been an easy first three games, we haven’t had to battle too much and when we got behind I think we showed our character,”.  Greeneville never gave up but hadn't fully had to play a 4 quarter game at all this year and it showed.  I hope for the rest of the year we work on the passing game because we all know Quillen and Baugh can run the ball.  Greeneville will be fine in 4a and don't think they will be tested like last night until maybe the Quarters against AC (Which could be scary).  Alcoa will win them another ball and huge and athletic for a school their size.

Gosh I didn’t realize until last night that Luke Cannon and Colby Barrett are not playing this year.  Those are 2 tall, rangy athletes.  Makes it more impressive what they are doing this year.

I was talking to some Alcoa fans and this years team I think only has 6 Seniors on it.  I don't know why Cannon isn't playing but Barrett is playing just at Baylor in Chattanooga

Well I think everyone are making some great arguments for both Alcoa, Greeneville, Bearden and even Powell. Players being hurt certainly could make a difference in any game and with some teams it's like rotation; they have a second team that's just as good. But I am still confident the Mavs will only get better and with the largest front line in the history of Mav land they should be unstoppable. And don't get me wrong if the Mavs score were the same against Alcoa, don't you believe many here would have told the Mavs to go home and not come back. A lot good points made and only the future will tell. But I expect the Mavs and Alcoa, both to be in Chattanooga this year. And of course Greeneville had a bad night but they too will recover and the Mavs better be ready. Congratulations to Alcoa in a huge win!
