5A Region 4

Recommended Posts

Get your popcorn ready. Walker Valley’s win over East Hamilton makes this an absolute classic fight to the finish.

It’s gonna come down to the final week of the season — Rhea vs EH and McMinn vs WLker — and nobody will know who is going to win it heading in. Coaches gonna be checking their phones after the final whistle.

McMinn looked dead in the water and could get off the mat for a region ‘ship with a win over Walker and Rhea win over EH.

I am curious for Rhea folks. With the Howard cancellation, do we know if Rhea can win the region in any scenario? They sort of get screwed over in this way.

Still don't really understand what happened with the Howard cancelation. Also, with both schools being off this week, why not re-schedule? Hope this doesn't hurt us moving forward,       GO EAGLES!

I could be wrong but my understanding is Rhea has no chance of winning the Region based on not playing the Howard game. Either WV or McMinn is going to end up 4-1 in the Region and the best Rhea can be is 3-1. It is a shame as they would most likely have beaten Howard.

Yeah, looks like you’re right. That’s tough for those kids. I’m ignorant in the facts of why the game was called or whey they can’t play this week. I’m sure a good reason. Nonetheless, feels like a gut punch to that senior class

My understanding was Rhea’s administration did not want to play at Howard based on threats they were told about. Rhea offered to play at their place and give Howard the gate but Howard declined. The coaching staff obviously wanted to play. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t play this week since both are off. I assume one side wants to more than the other but that’s pure speculation on my part.

So here is the way it could go down

Rhea and Howard has been called a no contest, so it does not count as a win or a loss for either team. Rhea tried to get the game rescheduled but Howard did not want to reschedule. As I was told be someone from Hamilton Co Howard admins didn’t want to reschedule the game on fall break.

The playoff teams are set between East Ham, WV, McMinn and Rhea.

Scenario 1- If McMinn wins and Rhea wins in the last week the records would be

McMinn 4-1

Rhea 3-1

Walker Valley  3-2

East Ham 3-2

Scenario 2-East Ham wins and McMinn wins

East Ham 4-1 East Ham gets the head to head over McMinn

McMinn 4-1

WV 3-2

Rhea 2-2

Scenario 3-East Ham wins and WV wins

WV 4-1

East Ham 4-1

McMinn 3-2

Rhea 2-2

Scenario 4A-4F -The most unpredictable one

If Walker Valley wins and Rhea wins Week 11

it’s going to get hairy in this situation

Walker Valley 4-1

Rhea, McMinn and East Ham will all have 3 wins in week 10

In this case week 10. if all win Rhea beats Tyner, McMinn beats Powell and East Ham beats Sevier Co.

The finish would be

WV 4-1

East Ham at 3-2 7-3  (Most wins tiebreaker)

McMinn at 3-2 5-5 (Head to Head to breaker over Rhea

Rhea 3-1 6-3

Scenario 4B- If all 3 lose in Week 10

WV 4-1

East Ham 3-2 6-4 ( Most wins tie breaker)

McMinn 3-2 4-6 (Head to head over Rhea)

Rhea 3-1 5-4

Scenario-4C If Rhea beats Tyner but East Ham and McMinn lose

WV 4-1

Rhea 3-1 6-3 Rhea would get the tie breaker with wins over teams with a better .500 or better

East Ham 3-2 6-4 East Ham get the head to head over McMinn.

McMinn 3-2 4-6.

Scenario-4D If McMinn beats Powell Rhea beats Tyner and East Ham loses to Sevier Co.

WV 4-1

Rhea 3-1 6-3 Rhea would get the tie breaker with wins over teams with a better .500 or better

East Ham 3-2 6-4 Head to Head with McMinn

McMinn 3-2 5-5

Scenario 4E- Rhea loses to Tyner McMinn beats Powell and East Ham beats Sevier

WV 4-1

East Ham 3-2 7-3

McMinn 3-2 5-5

Rhea 3-1 5-4

Scenario 4-F Rhea loses to Tyner McMinn beats Powell and Sevier beats East Ham

WV 4-1

McMinn 3-2 5-5

Rhea 3-1 5-4

East Ham 3-2 6-4

I think that’s all the scenarios

What will the predicted finish for this region be this year?

What does everyone think will be the new region next year? I know Howard is out so I guess Soddy will join?

Probably add soddy daisy and possibly William Blount or lenior city but doubt it

I dont think willy Blount. I see them replacing Heritage in that region with West and Powell.

LC has been in that region before so that makes more sense, but since now there is more teams in there I don't see it. Before there had to be at least 4 teams in a region. WV, Soddy, Rhea, East Hamilton, Ooltewah, & McMinn I think will be the region after looking at the new numbers.

region 2

Powell

West

Knox Central

Halls

Campbell Co

Region 3

Rhea

Blount

Clinton

Karns

Lenoir C

Region 4

    • So, I looked at the second round playoff games in 3A and wondered how they might turn out. I used Cal-preps to project a score in each game. Here are the results. Y’all look it over and tell me if you think it’s accurate or not. Gatlinburg-Pittman 28 Unicoi Co.                  14   Alcoa.                         49 Austin-East.                0   Giles Co,                     28 Meigs Co.                   21   Sequatchie Co.           40 Chatt, Central.             17   East Nashville.             42 Sycamore.                      7   White Hse. Heritage.   31 Liberty Creek.               26   Westview.                      48 Dyersburg.                     22   Covington                       52 Bolivar Central.              14 There are only two games where the spread is projected to be 7 points or less.
    • Most fans think that. So only Monterrey improved?  Westy slapped Cannon Co around while Monty and Forrest punched each other in the mouth for 15 rds. Which team do you think is more rested and ready for a knock down drag out?
    • That would be great.Love the Tellico games
