Nope! They are hiring a coach in August is what I've heard. No time to prepare for season, another season lost.I cannot understand these people!!Plenty of applications turned in.AD wants a coach (DC no HC experience)from Fla who was fired from his previous staff and cannot take job till August. So if this one doesn't accept we have another year without Quality leadership.

OB, Old Pirate says,  The Cherokee Nation deserve more than this mess. August hire is ridiculously stupid, Best of Luck to the faithful Fueders from GB.

Is the interim head coach gonna stay to handle the off-season and spring football?

Wow! I thought for sure they wouldn’t screw this one up but i guess they can. So I’m guessin they are lettin the 2 or 3 good ones from the area just walk that applied?  I am sure they could start before August.

Please tell me that he won't "be officially able to accept the job until the new school year starts" but he will be at least working with the team and leading them through workouts.

Because if not, then I guess we're going to be having this conversation again next year. No one, at least no quality candidate, will want to come in that late.

From my understanding he will not and cannot accept a job until August.

    • Thankfully,  No Madden in his resume!   Fortunately this new hire, Greg Vandagriff, is pure “gridiron” football!   Work, sweat, get better everyday, outsmart Goliath when you must, but work, work, work.  Wompuscat, we don’t know each other, yet  but I have a strong feeling you are going to really, really like this new coach.  He’s a guy’s  guy and will navigate the Lakeway organizational chart like a good running back would.  He’ll look for the holes,  but I have a feeling he will not hesitate to plow over the toughest defense to reach the goal line.    Lakeway’s program is still in its infancy.  The dismal win loss history is normal in the early years.  Fortunately the stars are now aligning in Lakeway’s favor.    Coach Vandagriff has written a book titled, “The Power of the Patch”.  It’s his life story of rising  above a troublesome childhood and  becoming the father and man he always wanted in his life, but never had.   He gives all credit to his faith in God (instilled by his grandmother).  He credits his high school football coach with molding his character and work ethic.  The book is now available on Amazon.      I’ve read the book.  It’s a tearjerker, if you are a sentimental grandma.  Lakeway has been blessed to begin a new football chapter with a head football coach whose goals are aligned with the school’s.
    • Kirby was the only one offered, nobody else had a chance to turn it down.
    • Didn’t say we would win, we aren’t scared of competition like a lot of teams out west…. We called a lot of the big bad teams in west tn and none of them wanted to play. We filled our week 2 game with JP2 anyways.
    • No one knows what the schedule will be.  To assume 45 would be foolish.  My wife and I have a few friends who work at the high school and up until Friday they said he was going to meetings throughout the week.  He immediately went back to Covington.  His wife never moved.  This isn’t complicated
    • It’s not wide open. Noah Watkins will walk through the bracket.
