The rumors that I heard were that Rang was looking around under the table. Never made any official move but definitely was looking to leave for the right opportunity. Parents are still living in the past. 6A is a bigger jump than most people think.

This is 100% true. PF was the place I kept hearing but that wasn’t available since they hired within.

I believe what comes from the mouth of the person actually involved when it's somebody I have known for years and have a solid relationship with.

This is generally what I come back to. I do not know Rang at all. The people I talked to are generally reliable but obviously 100% as they are not in any decision making role. Given all of that, it is hard for me to see the current state of Oak Ridge and not think Rang at least looked at the options. The options were not very good in my opinion. Even if there were some good landing spots I do not know if he would leave, but moving to 6A with a community that thinks they should be winning state championships no matter the level is a tough spot to be in for anybody.

Current state of Oak Ridge?   

They were a semifinal team less than 2 months ago.    

Yeah, awful program.  :roll:

Lol. Nobody said they were an awful program. Reading seems to be a struggle for you. All I said was unrealistic community expectations and a jump up in classification could potentially make someone look for another job.

No, I read fine.  Jist because something is posted doesn't make it a legit concern. 

Got news for you:  Every school worth coaching at is in a community that thinks they should win a state championship. That's the nature of the beast. 

Schools jump up in classification every year.  If you think that is something that scares Derek, then you don't know a thing about him. 

He's happy in Oak Ridge.

He won’t admit it to you, but he knows Benanti was even talking to coaches just in case Rangman were to leave. Gillum was one of them. Ever ask your guy where he sets up his broadcast for home games?

      Yeah, I don’t see that AC situation ending well. Let’s be real, AC is a super redneck school, always has been. Inner city boys and rednecks just don’t generally mix well, if you get my drift.       Hard to believe that it’s two kids from The McCallie School, and one each from Dobyns Bennett and The Baylor School.  I really thought a couple of other kids would have made the podium this year.

      I have said it many times before, Coach Phillips stated awhile back; "We coach players that want to be ROADRUNNERS!"  Even if they takes their lumps and bruises and its been bruises the last couple of years, they're still not going to recruit players.  If they stay, LETS GO!  If they leave, SEE YA LATER!  IT's HARD BEING A ROADRUNNER!     Fulton was tough back in the days when they won 3 titles, no argument there.   AC-  I think they beat Alcoa this year , Alcoa isn't all that and they will take their bumps and bruises this year. They won't cake walk 4A and I agree those parents will turn on the coach because they're playing outside kids

      What I meant to say is, "They don't have to use MONEY or other things to get players to their program!"  Aren't very good?  1 State Title in School history speaks a lot , go figure!
