Film? I'd be surprised if 90% of the voters have even seen one highlight from any of these kids to be honest. As for stats, for some reason South Pittsburg has never posted then anywhere, no matter who the coach was. But yes, even though stats do not always tell you the story, they do help voters who have never seen them play.

I think the biggest reason that you see players from certain teams always on the ballot is due to tradition and history. When SP is doing well, they will almost always have someone on the list. If Greenback or Lake County are doing well, you will see them with players on the list as well due to their history in A/1A.

Just a little rambling on my part here that has nothing to do with the quoted post, but is just in reference to people who think South Pittsburg has been overrepresented in Mr. Football. This will be the 40th year that they are giving away this trophy. 23 of those years they gave away two, one for a lineman and one for a back. So, for each classification, there have been 63 trophies awarded in 40 years. For a breakdown, during this same period of time, South Pittsburg has been to the state championship 12 times, winning 6 of them. 6 is also the number of Mr. Football winners they have had out of the 63 trophies given out. So, they have been to 30% of the championship games, won 15% and had UNDER 10% of the Mr. Football winners. Looking at that, it doesn't appear to me that South Pittsburg is overrepresented in the Mr football awards.

JMO, I would like to see the awards given after the playoffs….200 yards rushing or passing isn’t to hard against any of several teams in 1A.

Embrace the hate…What you just said at the end is a fabrication as well.

Neither semifinalist in 2023 was named a finalist last year either and we know good and well at least one of them was the best player in 1A. Who cares about this junk anyway.

You were on probation for recruiting retard.  That’s a fact Jack!

Milan’s Jaydon Peete, Fairley’s Andrew Johnson and East Robertson’s Kason Young are the class 2A Mr. Football Finalists. 3 great players. Congrats to all 3.

I think Peete will win it. Pickett got snubbed. Extremely proud of Kason young, lost the best player in 2A on the first drive of the season and he picked up the load.

The so called best player won it last year and wasn’t the best player last year. Thomas from Riverside was and wasn’t even a finalist the award is a joke.

    • Not sure how many officials Jackson has sent to state because I can honestly careless about D-2 basketball, unless USJ or TCA participates in the state championship in Cookeville. However, in the last 3 years, Jackson had sent officials that have all officiated the boys tournament in Murfressboro. Obviously, they can't call the girls state tournament games that involved the "Jackson schools" that are in the association, but not sure why they've done the boys and not the girls. But there hasn't been an official that has participated in the girls tournament that I'm not familiar with in terms of names.
    • There was one bald young white guy. Not sure where he was from, but he was the absolute worse.
    • The west tennessee association officials, one was at D2 tournament and two were at D1 boys. Not sure why none had girls.
    • Actually, I was there, and I agree, officials were terrible for girls and boys. In my opinion, 3 or 4 players should not foul out in a game on that stage. However, I stand by South Gibson will struggle until they can score. Thats just my assessment and opinion. As good as Dunn is, she's not a point guard and her being the primary ball handler has taken away from her scoring which they need.
