When it comes to McConnell he does in fact look at these boards. Several years ago, a poster said something that set him off. He got on here under his real name and let loose. It was hilarious. There have been 2 instances over the years that I can remember a coach posting under their real name and that was one of them.

Must’ve been when he was at Camden or Waverly. I knew of a former heavy-set assistant, who was despised in Weakley, posting under a semi-cool name. Maybe maturity wins out & they just let us fans do the conversation & chirping. lol

I think it was while he was at Camden. Cause it was a Waverly poster that set him off. It was a year or two after he left Waverly.

When it comes to McConnell I know for a fact…. Is what you are inferring. Such as you are an important figure. What are you doing up here in the 3A/4A threads anyway? *Milan’s fraudulent numbers say 2A so, why are you not down there trying to get your E-cred back? As far as you trying to use him to improve your lost credibility, he in fact does not look at nor worry about these threads. That one particular situation you tried to stretch to make yourself sound like you are in the know, was a one off. That situation was brought up to him and he addressed it. It’s not like he loves on the T and you are the only person who knows it.

It’s amusing that folks assume that coaches aren’t familiar with these boards. Whether they are actively posting or not, I think a lot of fans are underestimating the number of coaches watching the T.

Exactly. Coaches do creep on these boards.

I’m sure everyone is aware that coaches are aware of the T but, the real question is, does this forum actually have influence on coach decisions come game time or administration during dealings with coaches?

I’m pretty sure not.

Did either of us suggest that?

You're butting a stump. Logic, reason, and facts have no affect when dealing with a troll who is only interested in twisting what you say into something he can use to argue with you. You will be frustrated and exhausted in the end, and he will still be a troll.

It’s actually Game Day. The weather is more like what I think of as “football weather”. We’re expecting a low around 40 tonight in Covington. Time to break out the cold weather stuff and get in the stands for the playoff second round.

How quickly the high school football season went by this year. My dad had a saying “you can tell that you are getting older when Christmas comes as often as you wished it would when you were a kid.” The older I get, the truer that statement becomes. At age 5 or 6, it was an eternity from one Christmas to the next. Now, I blink my eyes and it’s the Holiday season again.

And, it seems that it was just a few days ago that I was looking forward to the first high school football scrimmage. I have a sign on my wall that somebody gave me:

There are two times of the year FOOTBALL SEASON and waiting for football season.

Y’all better get out there tonight and enjoy it, folks, it’s almost over.

    • So you are looking at one tough stretch for an 18 year old?  Seems you are grasping at straws if you think there is much difference between the two.  By the way Taylor was the best running back in the history of McKenzie and he is in the top 10 in 4 career statistical categories in the state.  If you can tell me Mckenzie had a back like that the last two years that took pressure off Surber I might could agree.  We can agree to disagree
    • 2022 McKenzie team had the most talent they’ve ever had at McKenzie.
    • I overlooked Gibson County. They would be team No. 11 for me. I'm going to edit my list, just behind Livingston Academy (which had four state titles, six runner-up seasons and 20 state appearances).
    • A little history on Gibson County. 11 Final Fours. 10 seasons AP ranked number 1 at end of regular season, 3 years undefeated at end of regular season, 1 year undefeated winning Gold Ball, 4 Gold Balls and 1 Runner Up with 3 Gold Balls coming when there was only 3 classifications, 1 Silver Ball when there was only 3 classifications, 1 Gold Ball when there was 4 classifications. 2020 was Covid year and was still playing in Final Four when cancelled. Been to state 18 times. Pretty good resume. 3 or 4 times when they weren't consolidated. Yorkville, Rutherford and Dyer have some history. Yorkville was Runner Up one year.
    • No, they wouldn't have lmao they would've lost to Fayetteville. Surber is the more prototypical QB, I get it. But Cassidy possessed a clutch gene Surber doesn't. Against Fayetteville McKenzie got the ball down 17-18 with about 2:30 left on their own 18 or 19. Cassidy marches them all the way down to their own for a lollipop fg to win. Cassidy was 3 of 4 for about 45-50 yards and had a 20+ yard run. If I'm not mistaking, Taylor didn't get a touch on that drive.  On the other hand, leading 34-18 starting the 4th quarter with 2nd down and goal on MASE's 5 or so that drive ends in an Interception. Long story, short 2 more ints followed as well as a snap over the head of the punter and McKenzie loses. I want to say they mustered 3-4 first downs in the quarter. These things are not the same. You can argue 2022 was better than 2024 and I agree but the level of comp played wasn't anywhere close. 2022's road to a Championship was much tougher and 2024 McKenzie cruised until they didn't.
