Warren County is a dumpster fire, who would apply for this job? Does the administration  or the community really care?  It's  really pathetic  a school of 1800 students, and you have to  resort to going non region for two years.

It worked out well for White.

The administration in Warren County should be ashamed.  With virtually no youth feeder programs in Warren County and littlw to bo help from the school system, what do they expect?  Whwn you have such a long history of losing, and not much help changing things, the only thing you can offer is character and team building.  No one better at character than Matt Turner.

What a terrible decision. Hopefully the folks who made this decision are help to account.

brother, you are right on the money...when a head coach has players that will come play for him that's a good thing...we all love to win obviously, and it sounds like WC has not had much success lately; however, there is more to coaching than just winning, although nice...we are taking young boys and building them into future leaders, husbands, fathers, and respected citizens of the community in which they live and work...it takes more than wins to do that...i know nothing about the WC issue other than what i read...but it appears that the coach was loved by his players because he actually cared about them and cared for their well being and he wanted to know as many as he could beyond just a football player...that is important, and needed in society today. Kids have to know they are still "worth" something even when they do not play the game anymore...hope he finds another job if he wants to continue to coach...

Warren County should promote education! The coach should be employed at the school to help the kids and help in education. No child can graduate high school with bad grades. Warren County needs a coach that recognizes that those kids also have a future.

The test scores of the school are herendous and needs much improvement. Sports are a wonderful thing for kids and offers a lot of teachings that they will use in thier lives, but education gets them there.

The only school that has football is the middle school, which causes issues for children in the other elementary schools. There is no transportation to the WC Middle School for the kids if they want to do football. This makes it difficult for parents who may have children that would like to participate and can't take them, because they have to work.

Increase education, figure out the feeder schools situation, and find a coach that cares about the kids future, as well as, football that works for the school system.

I’ve never agreed with this blaming the principal or whatever.  There’s a lot of great assistants in the state that would take that HC job in a heartbeat.  Most of them would not succeed.  You keep going though until you get that right one, that diamond in the rough.  There will be at least 300 applicants for that job.

Either you are making a good joke, or you are not familiar with the reasons assistant coaches apply for jobs. There will not be 300 applications for this job.

Is he gonna take a job elsewhere or is he done?

Matt Turner was born in Warren County and I believe he only wants to coach in Warren County. Turner played middle and high school football in Warren County before he played at UTC. Then he returned to Warren County. He has dedicated his professional coaching career to Warren County sports.

    • Yeah, I don’t see that AC situation ending well. Let’s be real, AC is a super redneck school, always has been. Inner city boys and rednecks just don’t generally mix well, if you get my drift. Before it’s all said and done, there will be drama. As I’ve said before, people will sell their souls to win football games. It’s crazy.
    • Booger thinkin that it probably not unreal istical to be thinkin the TFP could be ones source..... Booger just sayin
    • Hard to believe that it’s two kids from The McCallie School, and one each from Dobyns Bennett and The Baylor School.  I really thought a couple of other kids would have made the podium this year.
    • I have said it many times before, Coach Phillips stated awhile back; "We coach players that want to be ROADRUNNERS!"  Even if they takes their lumps and bruises and its been bruises the last couple of years, they're still not going to recruit players.  If they stay, LETS GO!  If they leave, SEE YA LATER!  IT's HARD BEING A ROADRUNNER!     Fulton was tough back in the days when they won 3 titles, no argument there.   AC-  I think they beat Alcoa this year , Alcoa isn't all that and they will take their bumps and bruises this year. They won't cake walk 4A and I agree those parents will turn on the coach because they're playing outside kids
    • What I meant to say is, "They don't have to use MONEY or other things to get players to their program!"  Aren't very good?  1 State Title in School history speaks a lot , go figure!
