Best upper Cumberland area teams ever?

2013 Upperman was pretty historic. Unfortunately the coaching staff was very very young inexperienced.  Most the coaching staff was barely older than the seniors. The schedule, coming off a 1-9 year when those seniors were freshman, was no help to them. A few key injuries late in the playoffs and a great Alcoa team ended it.

I have still not seen a player in the Upper Cumberland as electric as Connor York. 74 td's is insane. 25 td's his junior year in 6 games before an injury was also crazy. I think 125 career tds is top 5 ever in the state.

Patrick Ely DL was also a kid I haven't seen around here since. Around 6'3 300lbs and athletic enough to play TE on offense. Was unblockable on defense.

But, if we include Trousdale, no team can come close to 97 TC. That team had everything. Speed, size, depth, coaching.

I haven’t seen any team as good as 2013 Upperman in the true UC area (taking out Trousdale). They had everything you could want in a HS football team

Only team I truly think it close is probably 2012 Livingston

The 97 TC team is the reason everyone is so hyped up about beating Hartsville like a drum now that they’re down!

That team absolutely destroyed everybody and didn’t show any kind of mercy!

Satterfeild unapologetically ran it up on teams. Called timeouts late to score on teams up huge and didn’t care. I do remember that the Nashville media was pumping up CPA that year as one of the best Nashville area teams ever. CPA coaches were being interviewed on TV all week. Nashville media had them beating TC bad and it was 35-0 at half at TC kept the starters in all game and demolished them.

Looks like there is new Sheriff in the UC

This Macon County team is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt in the conversation.. only thing you could argue is that they did lose 2 games this year to teams who were also in the UC 😂 but then again, they turned around beat them both later on so check mate

10-5 2005 LA, 2013-2018 UHS 14-1 in division with Alcoa, 2024 13-2 Macon...were all good and near the best ever.

If they can sustain it better than after the 2005 great team, build on it. I say maybe 7-3 next season then back near top in 2026 once Chaffin is gone. Carlise at QB, Greer at RB will be a tough combo.

Shoulders needs to keep bring kids in, legally, and keep the momentum going.

They may not be this good again but they should maintain it better just by keeping Shoulders.

They had injuries on the offensive line both of those games. They beat everyone they played and only lost one of those games by a point. The Sparta game was in a hurricane and Upperman had just blown the Warriors out. Macon took that game lightly. Both losses worked out perfectly for them. That Upperman loss was the best loss in Macon High School sports history.

As of right now they are a soild #1 including TC teams.
