Who cares what they scored in a game they WON. Give them props and stop the he hating.

SP got bullied and out coached! We up!

MASE won the game just as they should have, and if you want to say bullied, I'll say it with you...saying outcoached would be a looonnnnngggg stretch though. When you can see that you're going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to match the other teams talent, you have to pull out all the stops and not worry about anything other than "stealing" a score or two. Props to the SP coaches for going all out in an attempt to win the game, and not worrying about just keeping it respectable. The team that lost to OS early in the year would have been blown off the planet by MASE...you don't go from where they were then to where they are today without coaching.

West Tennessee fans were waiting for Memphis inner city teams to get back to the state level in the sport of football. We all know Briarcrest, MUS, and Christian-Brothers cannot compete on the Baylor/McCallie level in D2-AAA, and CPA is on top of the mountain in D2-AA. D2-A teams in Memphis just need a lot of work. That's all I'm going to say. When you look at D1, Region 8-6A is the toughest region in the state regardless of classification, and Houston is aiming to repeat tomorrow as 6A Champions, but Shelby County was lacking with inner city teams to represent the 901 and head back to state (especially since Covid). With Fairley being closed but losing to Milan by one possession, it was MASE and Melrose horning the Grind City. No one had Melrose being in the 4A State Title game.

What's crazy was North Side was aiming to go after Coach Miller a few years ago. Not sure why North Side pivoted and went in a different direction, but it worked out well for MASE.

Few weeks ago, South Fulton had two chances to win the game against MASE. MASE threw an interception around their own 30 yard line, but a South Fulton defender fumbled the football and gave it back to MASE for a fresh set of downs. Later in the game with about 3 minutes to go, the Red Devils stopped MASE at their own 10ish yard line. Had two chances to win it while trailing 28-24. MASE ended up winning around 20 points or so. But leaving the game, I was hesitant in MASE and thought they would lose to Union City. I was in Memphis for a work obligation so I stayed that night and watch MASE in person. I thought one of the lineman for MASE was tipping. I'm not sure if it got corrected, but I didn't think MASE could go further for that reason. I thought it would be exposed. What I liked about Miller was I thought he didn't have an ego and sticked to one thing or another. MASE can throw the football, and they can run it. I think they do a very good job letting the script play on and decide on either running or throwing, or both.

Happy for Miller and those guys, they have earned it.  Good luck to Melrose and Houston tomorrow. West TN has a chance to win 4 championships when it is all set and done.

You say that and I agree from an experience standpoint but it’s hard to get faster and gain 50lbs up front in 15 games during the season. What’s the old saying that a fellow member on the T use to say. We need to chase more chickens.

That’s right I miss him

I'll take the blame.  But you can bet the farm that wasn't called

No need. The staff did a great job this year and the boys responded. Even though that's the goal every year, we weren't supposed to make it this far. The fact that we did absolves you and anyone else from blame.

Besides, there were a few plays that could have been difference makers. If the one kid from MASE (Watson maybe?) Doesn't make that ridiculous, matrix adjustment to catch their first long throw, then they are looking at 4th and long and punting instead of getting a touchdown. If Cooper doesn't slip when he tries throwing the deep ball to Buckner, then you may be looking at 6 for the Pirates at a crucial time. There are more, but those two come to mind.

The loss stings, as all of them do, but we will be back.

Like Beerman said the Kickoff play wasn’t a Coach called decision! But a Coach just took the blame. I’ll bet the farm and all my Trophies that South Pittsburg will be back in Chattanooga next year

CF from what i hear will be a little down but still be the team to meet in the Semis unless Harriman decides to get a Head Coach.Hampton being in 1A with their numbers will and should cause problems for us upper 1A teams but until CF gets beat I'm picking them.OS will be back to being OS.So yes I 100% agree SP will be back.
