SP is defending state champs and plenty of y’all thought they would win. Don’t come back acting like they never stood a chance now. The better team and COACH won. WE UP.

Go check it. I've said all along that MASE was favored big on talent alone, and that if the game was close it would be because of coaching. Swap the teams in September, and the SP coaches would have taken the MASE team and beat McKenzie with a running clock, and the SP kids would have been lucky to get out of the first round or two. Enjoy the fact that MASE is the best 1A team in the land by a wide margin, but don't try and start with having the greatest coaches around...you can't have your cake and eat it too. Also, I'm not knocking MASE's staff at all...they may be fine coaches in their own right, but the team didn't have the polish that well coached teams have, even just when lining up to run a play...that and my mom could have been their head coach and won state with the talent on the field.

Yesterday SP got outmatched on every single position on the field. Sp wasn’t supposed to have been there this year and we made it. Mase could have won the game without a single coach on the sideline. I promise you SP didn’t get out coached. I have yet to see stone and company get out coached since he took the HC job. Mase brought home the gold, SP brought home the silver. Another trophy in the case. Congrats on your first gold ball. 
 

We can all tell you all have never been to the big stage before. Good luck in 2A next year

Huge memories for every kid associated with the team Haven...you don't have to believe me, but I'm always happy for the winners. Life is long and troubles are many, even for the blessed...something that will be looked back on fondly and retold for their children and grandchildren should be celebrated.

 Congratulations to MASE on the resounding win...it was impressive just to get one, but you can add the fact that they beat one of the most storied and respected programs in the state to get it. Nobody can tarnish that or ever take it away, and the kids should be proud of the accomplishment!

Then turns around and beats SP. Guess stone didn't have the X's and O's to get it done. Ya'll are always among the most talented and had 2 mr football semifinalists. I'd know I've heard SP fans say it over and over.

This is exactly what 95% of the SP posters have said all week. We were mismatched. We didn’t have the amount of senior athletes you guys did. It’s actually pretty simple to see. 
 

We do have talent. Not saying we don’t. That just goes to show you what we expect for next year having a sophomore and junior me football semifinalist. 
 

Mase won the game fair and square. No doubts about it. Kudos. Good luck next year. Maybe yall will make it back. To the game that counts. SP will and should bring home a gold ball next year and should have a back to back and possibly a 3 peat.  The future looks bright here in Marion county.

Again this is what I'm talking about. "They could've have won the game without a single coach on the sideline." That's disrespectful to the job Coach Miller has done all season. Mase isn't Whitehaven, Germantown or any of the big name schools in the area. Miller built this program from the ground up and deserves some respect. I don't even know if they had a weight room a few years ago, now they're state champs.

 

Like it or not, that's about coaching! And why do all do Middle/East TN people act like recruiting doesn't go on up there? I lived in the Boro/Nashville for 5 years and saw plenty of player movement.

There was no disrespect to the HC. I am stating the obvious. What was on the field yesterday that was fielded by both teams is that MASE could have beaten SP without a coach on the sideline. That’s how much of a size and talent difference there was. It does take good coaching to get you to the championship games and against really good teams you need good coaching, but 9 times out of 10 when you are outmatched and every position on the field you can just be happy you made it to the big game.  Recruiting, everyone knows it happens at all levels and sports. Some get caught and some do not. I am also not a fan of the NIL that’s eligible for high school athletes nor college to that matter
