Greer kid will be a beast for Macon

Unless Greer kid listens to his coaches he won’t do any better. He’s tall, but if you don’t know the plays, you won’t get far.

Janz, Green & Haehl have real potential in the coming years.

But a lot of the Jr. High boys have said they’re done after Jr. High. I hope they change their minds though.

Why would they be done?

A good majority of this thread has been senseless comparisons between the Upperman QB and the Borders twins — which is a glorified pissing contest. The discourse from both sides is a waste of time.

MC was the better TEAM and that delved itself out. Nothing has changed in the 6+ years since my last time posting on this site. @UpperCumberlandMan  still pretends to be the gatekeeper of UC athletics I see — meeting plenty of counter points in this thread with the equivalent of “I know better than you do, because I say so.”

Would love to buy this user for what he’s worth, then sell him for what he thinks he’s worth!

That was my fault sorta I asked how good Morrow was compared to Chaffin and people took off.

I'm no gatekeeper of anything. I do see my fair share of teams play over a vast area, not simply the team I follow and thier opposition. Some people don't like to hear straight talk, and that's fine with me. We are all entitled to an opinion, and entitled to be called out on it.

I remember the days around 2008-10 saying UHS was the next big thing in sports. Also saying if Macon could ever hire a quality coach, which they did, and keep politics out of the program...they also can compete on the big stage like other good programs.

Most of the Smith County, Trousdale County, Cookeville folks and futher would  snickered at those prospects.

Looks like it's come full circle.

    • Thankfully,  No Madden in his resume!   Fortunately this new hire, Greg Vandagriff, is pure “gridiron” football!   Work, sweat, get better everyday, outsmart Goliath when you must, but work, work, work.  Wompuscat, we don’t know each other, yet  but I have a strong feeling you are going to really, really like this new coach.  He’s a guy’s  guy and will navigate the Lakeway organizational chart like a good running back would.  He’ll look for the holes,  but I have a feeling he will not hesitate to plow over the toughest defense to reach the goal line.    Lakeway’s program is still in its infancy.  The dismal win loss history is normal in the early years.  Fortunately the stars are now aligning in Lakeway’s favor.    Coach Vandagriff has written a book titled, “The Power of the Patch”.  It’s his life story of rising  above a troublesome childhood and  becoming the father and man he always wanted in his life, but never had.   He gives all credit to his faith in God (instilled by his grandmother).  He credits his high school football coach with molding his character and work ethic.  The book is now available on Amazon.      I’ve read the book.  It’s a tearjerker, if you are a sentimental grandma.  Lakeway has been blessed to begin a new football chapter with a head football coach whose goals are aligned with the school’s.
    • Kirby was the only one offered, nobody else had a chance to turn it down.
    • Didn’t say we would win, we aren’t scared of competition like a lot of teams out west…. We called a lot of the big bad teams in west tn and none of them wanted to play. We filled our week 2 game with JP2 anyways.
    • No one knows what the schedule will be.  To assume 45 would be foolish.  My wife and I have a few friends who work at the high school and up until Friday they said he was going to meetings throughout the week.  He immediately went back to Covington.  His wife never moved.  This isn’t complicated
    • It’s not wide open. Noah Watkins will walk through the bracket.
