Mairvul Footbawl 2025 (offishual thread)

It seems this younger generation has taken to Lacrosse better than I figured. I passed by 825 here while back and there were a bunch of teams there. I also live near Heritage and see the same out that way. I would rather kids be involved in something like that as to be out here getting into things.

Those are interesting points. As another couch coach, I have similar thoughts when I watch them. Also, I think AG at OR likely outcoaches most of his counterparts. However, rw is right. Sr and Jr arent too shabby either. It’s a tournament sport, and they are in the state tournament. A BIG part of coaching any successful team is getting and keeping the best players you can. The duo seems VERY good at that part. Murvil has very good players. I haven’t darkened the doors or gates at old 825 in a while (and don’t plan to), but I hear the new regime of coaches are an improvement from what was there before. I guess the results speak for themselves.

Eldridge (spelling may not be right there) was pretty darn good I thought. I think this year’s team is the most talented Maryville team I have seen, which doesn’t bode well for Maryville’s future opponents, being they’re all coming back next season. I never saw the ‘07 team, and they obviously won state, so good chance they were more talented, even though I never saw them play. That’s why the 12 losses was kind of a head scratcher to me, but thanks for the explanations. Yeah, you’re right about Green, OR is blessed to have him, for sure. Y’all have a great weekend!

It is interesting that basketball championship team included the current basketball head coach and the current football head coach, along with an All-American football player (which makes a difference). If I’m wrong about that, I’m sure someone will set me straight.

Not sure about the current HC being on it, but I know Hunt, and of course the great AD were on it.

You aren’t wrong.

2007 team was really talented. Aaron Douglas was an enforcer. Tyler Maples was a great defender. Jordan Damron,Wes Lambert  and Ryan Click were really good guards. Kent Basile was a great one on one player.

They were fun to watch RR. 2020 is one of my favorites as well. They didnt get their shot at the state tournament. It was shut down day 2 of the girls tournament. I would have loved to have seen it though.

    • Dead Period does not mean the fans can't talk about football. 59 days and counting to opening season kickoff for most teams. Also wanted to share a picture of Coach Ted Wilson who won State Championships at Maryville in 1970,76 & 78 on his 91st. birthday a couple of weeks ago with his kids a lot of us went to school with. Coach is wearing his Kingsport D-B jacket which I know a lot of their fans would enjoy seeing. .
    • Any thoughts on what you seen these past few weeks? Got to see several top teams as well as players and some who didn’t live up to the hype.  Some players of note. My personal observation was that Chelby Jordan was the best player I saw. Great skill set and great attitude, definitely should be getting more love as she was the best player on the floor every time. EB McDonald has taken a big step and should have a great year. Roberts girl from Grace continues to impress and they should be a tough out. Bartlett didn’t seem to be playing everyone, not sure if they’re injured but seemed to have 2-3 sitting the few days I saw them. Bradley Central isn’t the world beater they have been but definitely still good enough to win it with Kimora. Some of the private schools looked strong, PCA and Lipscomb well coached, Ensworth had some young talent but look lost at times.
    • They were missing 2, one being Chaffin. Johnson had hand surgery right after the state tournament. He was just released to play the day before BCAT started.
    • State tournament has nothing to do with Miss Basketball. It's a regular season award.
