I just did my research and you are correct! Being in the wing T was the reason he went UNDER RATED/ UNDER the radar. He was noticed until he went to a camp that allowed him to throw the ball....

To be fair, that is the nature of the beast nowadays. Unless you have gaudy stats or measurables, camps are pretty much a requirement to turn heads. College coaches have gotten lazy when it comes to finding guys in the rough. They want 500 kids to come to a camp so they can have their pick of the litter.

Stratford had a darn good QB in '23 that threw or ran the ball 90% of the time and he didn't get any major offers. Ended up either D2 or NAIA if I remember.

It frankly just does not matter as much as you want it to. You can admit that you like the aesthetics of a college-style 11P offense, but the reality is it frankly does not matter. The end goal of HS teams is to win, bar none.

Dan Marino, Alex Smith, Doug Wiliams, Jake Locker and Brett Favre....

It doesn’t make a whole lot of difference what type of offense they run. Henry Co has always been a run-heavy program. Most of their best signal callers have been athletes. I don’t think they have ever had a 2000-yard passer. Will Parrish might have come close in 2018, but that’s pretty much it.

Despite that, they’ve had successful QBs in basically every type of offense they’ve run. That will likely continue under the new regime.

I know some HC fans were a little disappointed about the region shake up when they came out. But probably better to break in a new regime against the Clarksville schools than the likes of Hendersonville and Beech.

The out of region schedule is no cakewalk.

    • Then they certainly are not putting any emphasis on turning around the program unless they truly believe the answer is already a staffer or in the building. Like I said before, initially this was a very intriguing situation when they were reportedly in discussions with some high level guys but the intrigue has gone now. It’s more curiosity than anything else as it doesn’t seem like anything of real significance is likely to happen.
    • To my knowledge, Casey Prather (North Side) and Robert Hobbs (Dyer County) are the last two players across West Tennessee that went to play SEC ball out of High School. Varnado (Haywood) played at Troy, he graduated high school 10 years ago. You also have Willie Kemp and Wayne Chism from Bolivar.  I can't think of anyone else that went to play major college basketball as well, especially recently.  When you think of Memphis players, I cannot think of anyone playing SEC ball or major college ball other than Kam Jones for Marquette, he went to ECS.  It's just the talent is not there. Simple as that.
    • That picture on CoachT's home page is pretty sweet
