McMinn Central opening

The real winner in this is Ostrowski’s wife… it’s reassuring to know that being a homecoming queen still holds weight in small town USA

Enough weight to get your husband a job he's less qualified for than other candidates at that, which is WILD and seemingly embarrassing for Central administration from the outside looking in.

With it being his 1st high school HC opportunity, I truly wish him nothing but success. That doesn't discount the fact it's a strange/political hire.

On a serious note, I wonder if JT will try to get McMinn back on the schedule in 2027…

I understand why Moody didn't want to play us anymore, but its a great community game that needs to come back.

It is absolutely pointless from the Central perspective.

My son played for coach O at Ocoee middle last year, and honestly that was probably the worst coached team I've ever seen. The kids played hard, but the play calling and practices were terrible. Probably the worst tackling team I've seen and it did not improve throughout the season.

Personally, I had no issues with him. He seemed to care about the kids, but professionally I'm glad he's gone from OMS. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes at OMS and changes his coaching approach or MC is in for some hard times with him at the helm.

Outside looking in, Why would McMinn Central want to play McMinn County when County's JV was better last year than Centrals Varsity. Im sure it would have a great turnout and close game to home for everyone, but that would demolish any confidence that Centrals team would have had. Just my opinion.

I feel like the money brought in by the return of this rivalry would be a welcome addition to both athletic departments.

It’s just tough to see a game go by the wayside that has been played for 34 of the last 40 years. I know Central has been down as of late, but it’s not like this rivalry has a 30+ year streak. People forget Central whipped our tail in 2014, so its not out of the realm of possibility that the game can be competitive.

All I can say is wow. I hope the best for this guy, but his track record does not look good at all. This seems like a bad hire I was predicting central to go about 7-3, bet they go about 4-6 now.

I was going to scold you for thinking that McMinn Central had a chance to go 7-3 after graduating the bulk of both sides of the ball, but then I got a look at their schedule.

Fair enough I guess, but most years County would dominate. Besides the money, not alot would be gained.

Central has assistant coaches with a boat load of experience to aid JT in continuing to grow the program. 3 (including himself) with HC experience and 4 with HS coordinating experience. There’s plenty of help there. Hopefully he runs the program and leans on his staff. Central will be fine

Central is returning more than most think.....Remember we had suspensions early and injuries at the end of the year. Those issues lead the Chargers to usng some 2's alot more than the poster's here know. or rememer. Return 3 on the OL with 2 others that got considerable playing time, all the wide recievers, #2 RB and an upcoming junior that showed som.e promise late in the season. QB and 55 biggest loses on offense. On D we return all the secondary, best inside LB, again had some young guys get time due to suspensions and injuries. Losing 3 of 4 started on the DL but had a couple of underclassmen fill in throughout the season.  Getting the DL intact and finding an inside LB are priorities. Got a championshiip 8th grade class coming in......Finding a QB is a #1 priority in the spring!

Oh Lord that doesn't sound good. Not knowing the people that made this hire would they move onto someone else if he took them straight into the crapper or would they say let's see how this plays out. Once you enter into the Twighlight Zone you'll play ale getting back out of it. Case in point Sequoyah.

    • Agree with most of this and add that it takes a "type A" personality to be successful as the top guy. Lots of folks are knowledgeable of the game, have the skills to co-ordinate scheduling, officials, duties, rosters, etc... What they lack is natural charisma and the innate ability to convince young men that they care for them, and what they're teaching them will make them successful if they contribute their effort. Football can be learned...leaders are born.
    • Understandable. I honestly couldn’t remember. When you lose your starting QB especially in high school it’s a big blow
    • Gotta keep it real here.  Nobody is twisting their arm making them coach football.  There are more high school football coaches around here than ever.  Schools that have the same enrollment today as they had 50 years ago have 5-6 coaches instead of two.  Every head coaching vacancy will get a flood of applications.  Well over 20 at West Carroll from what I read earlier in this thread.  There's more men getting into coaching each year than are getting out.  The fact is that there are far too many high school football coaches out there.  Like I said, just keeping it real.
    • Off the top of my head WV finished 3rd and RC finished 4th. I think both lost close games in the first round. Overall they were pretty evenly matched last year.
    • I’m gonna be tapped in for that Marion Co. game 🪶 🔥
