All facts but come on his hs recruitment was over 20 years ago. He was basically limited to two schools because most of those highly paid scouts didn’t think he would last in major college football. Things have definitely changed since then too. Promotion does help, not saying it'll turn a d3 kid into an SEC signed but a lot of the kids who sign on signing day (not early signing day) have benefitted from hype videos, social media, etc. Jayden Milton our RB (West Carroll) might not be playing college ball if not for the effort by him and his family to get his name and film out.

Your point makes my point. Milton didn't transfer out of his local school to someplace "to be seen", nor did he spend money on one of the snake oil "hype video" producers. He played where his heart was, and he (and his family) promoted himself. The fact that he's getting his shot at the next level speaks volumes for the fact that you don't have to chase the dream, you just have to have the talent and the will.

Not bashing the kid at all because he can play, but does anyone really think that he would have done better for himself if he'd gone through the trouble to play with a better team against better competition? You can argue that he would have proven that he could shine with and against better players, and you could also say that maybe he'd have been just another player on a good team.

Sure but every situation is different.  Some kids aren't just looking for a shot. Shivers from down the road in Humboldt for example. I know he had all these offers since 9th grade but he was in serious danger of losing a lot of them if he didn't showcase himself against better talent. He did. Now he's in Gainesville. And I would never suggest a hype video producer. Their mom or dad or someone at school could usually help with a hype video and do just as well

You've chosen another kid that exemplifies my point. Played for three years at one of the worst 1A football programs in Tennessee...dad had to approach an assistant coach for video footage even after he received invites to participate in showcase events, and the coach told him that an invite still didn't mean that he'd been accepted to participate in the showcase, just to apply. His mailbox was stuffed with offers from SEC teams after his freshman season not because of hype or advertising, but because of size and ability. He didn't change high school teams to be seen, he had the opportunity to play for a much better team because he had already been seen, and because he held offers from most of the top teams in the nation after his junior season.

No. Thats where you're wrong he wasn't offered for his size and ability. He was offered because of his size and had to prove his ability. That's why he moved.

We can agree to disagree... I'm sure that there are examples where you're right and where I'm on target in others.

Still, in this case he had offers from 7 SEC teams and several from other conferences over a year in advance of the move. Nobody "discovered" him because he left a bad 1A school to be in a better situation.

Speaking of transfers I wish Tennessee could block players from moving from Tennessee to a certain school in Western Kentucky.  Sucks when your rival that hasnt beat you in forever brings in 4 players with multiple SEC offers from TN into there school, and now can beat you.

I never made the argument he needed to leave to be discovered though. Just to prove he was the caliber they thought he was. But you're right in that all kids don't need to take that route. Look at all the Groves at East Robertson, huge offers and they don't have to go anywhere to keep em.

That's commie speak. We're not going to block people from freely moving about the country nor should we. My great grandpa didn't die fighting commies on mars for this kinda talk.
