I think we will need to concentrate on him and make their other players beat us. I don’t think we can totally stop him. Just slow him down.  We have to put a body on him every time a shot goes up. Half our team are football players and they should be good at this part of the game.

Couldn’t agree more with you! And most of Greenville’s main players (outside of Thompson) are also football players, from my understanding and from what’s been said throughout the season. I would say the same is true from Greenville’s perspective on Ty Cobb, can’t stop him and just try to slow him down.

That’s why I see it coming down to each teams supporting cast. And it really seems like that should benefit Greeneville with how many shooters and how consistent their shooting has been. I believe Uppermans best chance is to try and get early fouls on Thompson and put him in foul trouble.

now one thing I don’t think many people outside of Upperman fans realize is how good Chaffin is at taking charges. You wouldn’t think a 230 6’4” guy would necessarily be the best at it, but he is good at it. that could play huge in this game if he can get a couple on Thompson

It will be interesting to see how Greeneville decides to play Cobb. My guess is they face guard try to keep the ball out of hands as much as possible, but that’s nothing new. It’s about time Upperman brings their A game to the dance otherwise it will be game over.

Yep! Now if both teams play at their best (including their supporting cast) then I really don’t know who wins. I might would lean Upperman then because I believe they tend to play better team defense, but since I’ve seen Greeneville play much closer to their best lately than I’ve seen Upperman (outside of Ty Cobb) that is why I believe Greeneville wins today. It will honestly come down to which team plays the best today IMO.

Man, that Cobb is something else. I know he’s just a sophomore, which is crazy. Any big time schools looking at him yet?

After this weekend there will be plenty I’ve been talking about him since last year! TN Tech offered him recently, but he’s going to be better than that, no offense to Pelfrey and his squad! He’s just going to  have plenty of options!

How you gone blame it on fatigue and it’s just the 2nd day

I said how much of a factor. Is it 5%, 50%, none at all. I didn't blame it on anything. But the FACT is they were short first half.

Yeah, no doubt. That kid is putting on a show. He’s definitely gonna be better that TN Tech, but like you said, nothing against that bunch. You have to figure he will probably grow another inch or 2 as well.

    • Great post. I appreciate an intellectual discussion. I wrote "they" in my reference for figurative purposes. If the shoe fits. Honestly, I was referring more to the parents if I had to label a specific generation.  Only 1 statement you made in which I place myself on the opposing side. Effort and Commitment shouldn't change appearance. Those 2 terms have thousands of years of shaping (sports aside). I feel they are significantly pure when evaluating a football team and its capacity of both.  Maryville and Alcoa mastered the zip code thing you mentioned. When kids enroll there, they fully expect to win a state championship. I know that's kind of big scale and an extreme for the example, but it does exist. I support the idea of the old timers just saying how much better things were back then. I agree, that does nothing for kids. Zero motivational help. I guess I was taking the analytical approach and trying to examine some comparisons across the history of the program. Nothing against our kids in this community. We have some great athletes! With the proper guidance, they can be successful.
    • Based on this thread, the hurt feeling are coming from the AC haters.  When a kid transfers to AC it's recruiting. When a kid transfers to a Blount county school it's not.  Got it. [S]
    • But will white be interested in B Satt??
    • Does he have the speed to move up in the rankings. And what position will he play in college. Sort of reminds me of the groves kids the last two years in that respect, doesn’t necessarily have a position at the P4 level. TE?
