For Depth of the quality of teams you cannot beat 3A. A lot of pretty good teams won’t even make it to states.

My WAY TOO EARLY picks to make it to state next season:

Greeneville, Fulton, Alcoa, Upperman, Hume-Fogg, Jackson North Side, Fayette Ware, and that leaves, IMO, either Tullahoma or Portland for the last spot. If Dyersburg can be more consistent then they could potentially make some noise, but have to get through either North Side, South Side, or Fayette Ware.

I believe Regions 5 and 6, who matchup in substate, might be the paths of least resistant next season. Region 5 loses A TON of top talent. Region 6 also loses a good bit of talent too.

Hume-Fogg theoretically should be worse, but should be a better shooting team from what I have heard and know of, Especially with the youngest of the trio of Nwoye brothers coming in as a freshman and I have been told he will probably start and is supposed to be the best one of the 3. However, I wouldn't pick them over Upperman, Alcoa, Greeneville, North Side, and probably not Fayette Ware or Fulton from what I know now. However, things can, and probably will, change between now and then obviously.

And my SUPER EARLY championship game prediction: a back and forth classic between Upperman and Alcoa. Wouldn't shock me whichever won, but both return basically everything (at the very least their main cores), but I will take Upperman to repeat as of now. My reason for Alcoa getting in over Greeneville in the final is simple. Alcoa beat Greeneville earlier in the year, and Alcoa returns basically everything (please fact check this), while Greeneville returns Thompson they lose at least 2 or 3 starters that were big in stepping up when needed.

Alcoa loses 4 Seniors (1 being a starter in Ayl  and the other first off the bench in Graf).  They return almost all their scoring so definitely will be in the hunt

That is if Chaffin isn't an early enrolle in January to the college he committs to in football. Lots of programs require it for players, especially QBs.

I was wondering if he was a candidate for this. I just didn’t know enough about the program or kids to know.

    • Great post. I appreciate an intellectual discussion. I wrote "they" in my reference for figurative purposes. If the shoe fits. Honestly, I was referring more to the parents if I had to label a specific generation.  Only 1 statement you made in which I place myself on the opposing side. Effort and Commitment shouldn't change appearance. Those 2 terms have thousands of years of shaping (sports aside). I feel they are significantly pure when evaluating a football team and its capacity of both.  Maryville and Alcoa mastered the zip code thing you mentioned. When kids enroll there, they fully expect to win a state championship. I know that's kind of big scale and an extreme for the example, but it does exist. I support the idea of the old timers just saying how much better things were back then. I agree, that does nothing for kids. Zero motivational help. I guess I was taking the analytical approach and trying to examine some comparisons across the history of the program. Nothing against our kids in this community. We have some great athletes! With the proper guidance, they can be successful.
    • Based on this thread, the hurt feeling are coming from the AC haters.  When a kid transfers to AC it's recruiting. When a kid transfers to a Blount county school it's not.  Got it. [S]
    • But will white be interested in B Satt??
