I know why crick neck scheduled it. To prove who was the better recruiter, but why on earth would a public school ever schedule a private in today’s age?
Basically a tryout for the private school to see if they want to poach players.
Make those schools travel. Don’t let it be easy on them and invite them to your campus.

Come on Sheriff. That's tin foil hat stuff right there.

And from what i have been told Bearden was directed by the powers that be in central office to cancel the contract.

If KCS is consistent then they will also, direct schools not to play GCA, CAK. Or any other private.

Disagree on the strategy of not playing privates, especially if they are close to the public school's campus. It may not matter to a school such as Bearden. Yet, for most schools, playing privates easily becomes an introduction to the private school for players and families.

The recruiting lines are becoming increasingly blurry, but taking a team to a private school campus simply opens the door wider for recruiting.

If you want to see how your team measures up to a private school team, scrimmage them. Unless a public school desperately needs a game to fill their schedule, there is no reason to schedule a game with a private school.

That introduction to Private school facilities is a feeling like no other. Isn't it weird that we have a society that schools have so much of a difference in access to updated facilities that it makes kids want to transfer there? I would transfer as well just off that. Good facilities = Good stable program

one of the best educatin institutions in the state over at ND...and argument for the best is not wasted time.....

.....athletic facilities matched against other privates....at the bottom.....matched against public facitlities....not too far off the bottom....unstable no doubt when it comes to its sports

Booger just sayin

They should if they are not already. Why play privates? Make them travel out of state

Why?  Those kids are Tennessee kids, too.

That's just petty jealousy.

My kids went to public schools, and my grandkids in Knox County are as well.  But that doesn't mean that I want to punish those who go to private and parochial schools.

And you mentioned private school facilities.  Some of them are really nice, like Lakeway, but others- Catholic among them - are no better than the surrounding public school facilities.

It is not necessarily petty jealousy. The majority of public school coaches do not want to lose their players to private schools.

Why do you think there has been such a history of recruiting issues with Tennessee high school athletics? Why did the coaches and administrators push for a complete split of the public and privates?

There are a lot more advantages at private schools than the facilities.

If you look at the schedules, 95% of the public schools are not interested in playing the private schools.

Is there really a debate about this issue?

When the public school coaches quit playing the back channel games that get players to their schools via transfers, then i  will take what you are suggesting seriously. But until then, I'm laughing at it.

I wouldn’t be willing to help those schools take my kids if it were me. There should be enough privates to play non regional privates so they could have a full private school schedule.

Why is it punishment for the private school if the public school doesn’t want to play them ?

I don’t understand why any public school would want to play a private school.

“These back channel games” that you talk about are mostly filling in spots that recruiters like your boy crick neck took or private schools took from public.
Public coaches for the most part don’t want to recruit or else they would be at a private school.

If you want to win championships, you play the best, public or private.  Transfers are just as likely to happen from private to public now as they are public to private and if you got kids that transfer to private schools regularly that says more about your program than anything else

Oakland scrimmages McCallie every year and will be playing CPA. There's no doubt that they benefit from playing these teams and to avoid them just because they "might" try to recruit a player of yours is a cowards mentality

    • Read an article today where Anderson County got a Beerden transfer. Davy Boy Gillum is really selling his soul to try to get his daddy ball son a few wins.
    • They’ve got the old Big East conference back together. The only thing that conference was known for is beating up on the upper east TN directional schools then coming down to Knoxville and getting beat in the first or second round of the playoffs.
    • Poor Ray Co, they may never be relevant again after Power I Pemberton left. The Andy Kelly’s of the world ain’t going to Ray Co anymore.
    • Sad that backwards Campbell Soup County ran off the best coach in their history because this wife was black.  It’s ok to have a gigantic sex shop with places to have sex in the open, but they draw the line at whites marrying blacks.
