The interesting thing about your list....those three coaches actually called JJ about helping get players to their programs

“These back channel games” that you talk about are mostly filling in spots that recruiters like your boy crick neck took or private schools took from public.
Public coaches for the most part don’t want to recruit or else they would be at a private school.

So, in oder to fill spots of players who were recruited out of their programs, they are justified to recruit players out of other programs to replace them?

Honestly,  Sheriff. That's just delusional.

I’m not saying it’s justified at all I’m just stating what happens.
Sure the crick necks & backwards upside down visor people will recruit no matter what at public school, but I’d be willing to bet most HS coaches in TN want to play with there own and not have to recruit their own kids to stay as well as outsiders to bring in to replace those who left/compete with the teams they play that recruit.

When the public school coaches quit playing the back channel games that get players to their schools via transfers, then i  will take what you are suggesting seriously. But until then, I'm laughing at it.

You mean the Back Channel ways coach jones did at Fulton, Powell, at attempted to CAK, and how he did at bearden. That's why he is at Catholic now. 2nd run at privat Glory.

If you want to win championships, you play the best, public or private.  Transfers are just as likely to happen from private to public now as they are public to private and if you got kids that transfer to private schools regularly that says more about your program than anything else

Oakland scrimmages McCallie every year and will be playing CPA. There's no doubt that they benefit from playing these teams and to avoid them just because they "might" try to recruit a player of yours is a cowards mentality

you are comparing apples to oranges. your statement only applies to a few select schools. And Oakland has their ways that not everyone else can work that way.

Alcoa 4/6

AC 7/13

Maryville 2

AE/Carter/Gibbs/Fulton 0 (maybe one for Fulton but will only play basketball)

Knoxville Halls 1/0

Knoxville Central 1/0

West 3

Webb 1

Knoxville Catholic 2/0

Knoxville Grace 3-4

Northview Academy 1

Out of state 1/2

Brentwood Academy 1/2

Now, if you really want to get interesting, talk about the players, Bearden has/could be coming in

Karns 3/6

HVA 2/3

TKA 2/4

Halls 2

Of course, all rumors, but they do need a QB… and a certain team I just listed has one, Bearden is going back to Brad’s original strategy at BHS, the same one West has mastered.  Fly under the radar only get what you need and who you need.

Y’all scrimmage but don’t play the big boys. Ya’ll are worse than most for recruiting.
Bet McCallie didn’t like yall stealing that RB from them.
Ya’ll do have a great program but let’s not act like ya’ll are playing big time privates for regular season games year in and year out.

Point right over your head.

I mean the back channel ways that most schools in Knox County have been doing for decades, now.

But you know that.

Just about every program in Middle Tennessee has the same access to talent that Oakland does. Knox County is practically the wild west when it comes to transfers

Playing CPA for the 3rd time in 5 years this season, don't care what class they were in, they classify as big time. Oakland's success recruits itself. You got RuCo schools like Riverdale where nearly half their starting lineup transferred in

Whether they are a private school or not should never deter you when it comes to scheduling. It shows up in the playoffs when teams schedule correctly

CPA does have a good program and they are in the biggest class for privates. Y’all are 1-1 vs them. We will see how this year goes. Kudos to scheduling them.

My original point was Knox area teams playing Knox privates. Much closer for families to transfer from public to private.  Ya’ll are about a hour away from each other.
I still believe in making private schools travel. Public schools shouldn’t make it easier for those privates that take their kids that are just down the road. There are plenty of public schools that can provide competition.

    • Read an article today where Anderson County got a Beerden transfer. Davy Boy Gillum is really selling his soul to try to get his daddy ball son a few wins.
    • They’ve got the old Big East conference back together. The only thing that conference was known for is beating up on the upper east TN directional schools then coming down to Knoxville and getting beat in the first or second round of the playoffs.
    • Poor Ray Co, they may never be relevant again after Power I Pemberton left. The Andy Kelly’s of the world ain’t going to Ray Co anymore.
    • Sad that backwards Campbell Soup County ran off the best coach in their history because this wife was black.  It’s ok to have a gigantic sex shop with places to have sex in the open, but they draw the line at whites marrying blacks.
