If Morris wouldn’t have landed at Oc before now I would say he would be a shoe in. But like Cartman said, even though being in the same school system I’d highly doubt the pay would even be close. And on top of that I’d doubt Oc would let him get away since SF is the red headed step child of the county.

But yes his wife was an SF alum and they do still live here and their daughter still goes to SF from what I understand.

I havent heard any updates though what so ever. Surely we will hear something in the next week or so.

With the unique situation it brings , I think OC would probably do the right thing and release him if that’s what he wanted .. but who knows . I just thought it made sense  . . he’s a good coach .

That’s right .. well he does live in SF , and maybe his wife went there ? or definitely used to so my point remains the same … and i’d much rather go back in a region without Peabody and the swap of WC and Union City .. that region did get worse

Look I give you a hard time a lot but what I'm about to say isn't that, just my honest opinion. What you described is a losers mentality. Do I agree it would probably be easier to build something at SF over OC in their current situations? Sure. But to willingly take less money in order to go to a smaller class is basically capping your career trajectory. In addition to a husband he's also a father and I can't speak for Mrs. Morris but I know if I came home and told mine I'm thinking about taking less money for the same job at a different location, I'd be in the doghouse for who knows how long.

I don’t think it’s a losers mentality to want to work where your entire family is and you gotta think that carries some weight .. some are saying the pay would be the same but whether or not that is true i do not know . Some men don’t want to work with their wife .. and I get that too lol .. I’m a coach garmon guy as well .. i thought he would have been a perfect hire for LC last year ..he’s very animated and kids love that . . but if you’re SF, wouldn’t you like to have both ?

Did SF go through Spring Practice already with Knott before he left? Or will they just not have spring practice while searching for a coach?

I don’t believe they have went through spring practice yet. From what I understand coach knott will stay through the end of the school year and he is still heading up offseason workouts and such.

I’d love to see Garmon as the head guy. He’s great with the kids and they love him. I really don’t know what to expect out of all of this tbh. And like I said before, I could see it being a different pay because of school classification ect but at the same time they are both under the Obion County School system so who knows.

Garmon is the OC, correct? Their offense was the strength of that team last year, I was not impressed with SF's defense at all, but their offense continued to pop game after game. 40+ ppg I do not expect again with all those losses, but if they were to give him the job and keep that familiarity, I could still see that offense being very good. I could even see them pulling an upset maybe. As for Morris, I couldn't see him giving up Obion yet to make a move down, while some coaches have done it as of late (Williams to Humboldt from Bolivar, Cruse to Dresden from Ripley) I do not see that being the norm as both of them seemed to have different reasons for leaving (Family and Safety). I don't think you move up from West Carroll to move back down to SF, I think if that were the case you stick it out at WC because those kids absolutely loved him. Just my thoughts though!

Depends on how he feels about working with his wife and kids at SF .. they may not go that route anyway but he’s an outstanding defensive coach and keep Garmon to season a little more and run the offense .. could be  deadly duo  . We should have our answer soon as SP is beginning soon!

That’s a very fair evaluation I don’t see it either in that aspect. Only reason I could see was because it’s literally right in his back yard. I don’t see that happening either though but I could be very well surprised. Yes Garmon was the oc and he gets a lot out of the kids and they love him.

I would figure maybe we would hear something maybe by next week hopefully.

South Fulton High School Announces New Head Football Coach

South Fulton High School is excited to welcome Coach Cole Clanton as the new head football coach for the Red Devils.

An Obion County native and 2005 graduate of Obion County Central High School, Clanton brings over 14 years of coaching experience to SFHS. A standout athlete, he was named The Messenger’s 2004 Player of the Year and went on to play football at Bethel University, where he earned a scholarship and later served as a graduate assistant. He holds a B.S. in History with a minor in Educational Studies.

Clanton has served in various coaching roles across the region, including stints at Union City High School, McKenzie High School, South Side High School, and OCCHS. Most recently, he was the offensive coordinator at UCHS and also served as a head middle school coach.

Coach Clanton shared his excitement about this new chapter:

“I am extremely honored to lead and serve the Red Devil program. Coaching is about building relationships—when people know you care, it forms bonds that last a lifetime. My family and I are excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the South Fulton community. I look forward to serving the students and staff.”

He and his wife, Laken, a local nurse practitioner, live in Obion County with their three children—Kade, Collins, and Bowden.

We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Clanton and his family into the South Fulton family and look forward to a bright future for Red Devil football.
