This is how I see it. Maryville-Defense, offense (McCord, Biner, and the QB)

Central-Defense, speed. No doubt in my mind that is gonna be a close one. I'm not gonna tell you who I pick, cause I don't wanna start any arguements. Here's a hint, I am a student at MHS.

To reply to several,

R. Phelps has made the wise choice of coming in and really delegating the x's and o's to his staff. He's brought some much needed maturity and stability I believe. He's got a really good staff of bright, young, dedicated football minds. I sat with offensive coordinator, Robert Reeves, at MHS/Carter game and believe me, this young guy can break down defensives like you wouldn't believe.

Coach Mac is still at William Blount, but with a strong allegience to Heritage girls basketball. Understandably so.

As far as all this "speed talk" goes. I laugh. Give me Central's five fastest guys and I'll take WB's five fastest and we'll let 'em run 40's and I promise you, it would be a shocker. This is "not your mama's WB team." Blount is certainly the fastest team in Blount County and I wouldn't bet against them vs Central.

Fortunately, the game will played on William Blount's fine field Friday night and not here on the message boards. I like our chances.

Hey boyz!

Gov man, I love you and your optimism!

I think the Govs are gonna do it Friday night...I just wish I was...tee hee!

No, seriously, thanks for the update on Coach Mac. Don't know Coach Reeves but I'll take your word on it!

Things have been rough up on Nebo lately, what with my cousin and uncle stabbing that guy at Lowell's place. I try to teach them better starz, but you know how it is.

I am certainly missing you boyz and hoping they don't close the road! If they do starz bring the Homelite, I am disappointed that you didn't know my chainsaw of choice.

Love you boyz!

WB has given Central fits because they do have good athletes and they are weight room fanatics. If they can just push Central down the field and wear them out, it could be a long nite for the cats. But speed and talent do win out in this one. Central's skill positions are the best in the area and the deepest. CHS can score on any play at anytime because they just need a step. The special teams could be important in this one. Central's kick off and punt return teams are great. But as good as they are, the kick off and punt teams were that bad against Greeneville.

My guess Central 31-WBHS 21. (this is all based on the hope that the grass is not 10" high and the field does not have water running off of it as in years past)

Hey boyz!

I am so glad you can quote one of my heros Nine...General Patton.

Do you by chance know where he is buried?

Also, I have a feeling Blount will slip up on the Bobcats. Of course that is why we play the game.

As far as playing the game goes, I think I have you beat!

I have been playing longer than you have been alive!

Love you boyz!

Let's see ...

The goat says WB will wonder why the ever started a team and nine inch says the Govs will get "blatantly embarrassed."

I've never predicted a Governor win ... I've simply said that Central needs to be careful not to overlook WB and that I certainly wouldn't be surpised if WB does win.

Blount has dominated the series between the two--losing only once. They've always been better disciplined, stronger, better conditioned. This year, in addition to that, they have incredible team speed. They are playing at home. They are the underdogs, so most of the pressure is on Central. Central, obviously, is fixated on Maryville.

Once again, I'll just say, Central better strap 'em on and get ready and bring their A game.

goat and nine inch, I'll catch you Saturday morning and we'll see how prophetic you two "guys??" (I assume you're both men) are.

Good luck to Central.

Hey boyz!

Nope haven't seen that English book in a while. I did correct the mistake though and I appreciate you pointing it out!

I am a little embarrassed about it too! I kinda pride myself on my Red Rebel education!

Have I ever mentioned that I do not particularly care for the red rebels. I like Dylan Dickey and the Admirals of Farragut much better. They take elitism to another level!

I am willing to go out on a limb here and predict a governor win. Gov man, if you have any connections, you better tell the kids, my money, (hard earned as it is) is on the Govs!

In fact here are the winners on Friday:

Maryville

WilliamBlount &

whoever's playing Heritage!

Love you boyz!

:)

    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
