Can someone please explain?

I love Nascar (especially #40) , but one thing that I have never really understood is the dispersement of money after a race. You might have a 10th place finisher with 62,000 dollars and a 35th place finisher with 90,000 dollars. What gives?

It's all according to who is or isn't on the Winners Circle -- If you are a winner within so many years or Past Champion you are on the winners circle and therefore you make more for a 20th place finish than someone who finishes 5th, that has never won a race.

 

Also there is contingency money paid to certain drivers who carry a company logo/decal on their car.

 

If a Petty car wins a pole it will not compete in next years Busch Clash due to the fact that they do not carry the Busch Decal on any of their cars, A promise
